I know I know, everyone hates default cap. Here is my problem, shake the bottle before use, collinite starts leaking. Changed the bottle cap (used coke's bottle cap), shake the bottle before use, it still leaks from top. :(

Does anyone else face this issue?

Either transfer the #845 to another container that has a cap that's been proven not to leak..or wrap the threads of the original #845 container with some Teflon pipe tape.

go to your local beauty supply store, they should have some plain empty bottles (with flip tops) that shouldn't be more than a few dollars...

If you have a discarded flip top try it, is also makes dispensing the product much easier. Just be sure to clean the spout after use. I remove my tip and give it a quick shot of compressed air. :props:

This is what I use. I purchased the flip top lid that was recommended with the product here at the AG store. I've never had any leaking issues.

Chocolate syrup comes with flip top. Not sure if it will fit, but I'll definitely try. Thanks for input. :) :)

What would we do without internet forums? I never thought of that...how much time have I wasted with bent paperclips or soaking bottle tops in hot Dawn?

Thanks, Bobby!

(Yes, yes, I should know that Dawn won't strip LSP's out of my caps...but maybe I was using it for polish, so there!)

I was a old Dawn dish soap top for mine, works great.

You're welcome!

You have no idea how many tips, tricks, skills and methods I've learned from reading others contributions.... I are now smart! :props:

My cap when I just got it had a safety feature, probably child proof, had to press down and turn before it would open, however now to open the bottle theres no need to press down, just turn, it also just keeps turning, is the cap stuffed?

My other point is it used to be solid and turned to liquid after soaking in hot water for 5 minutes or shaking it vigorously. Now its liquid permanently, why is that?

My GF uses a hair conditioner called Infusion & the cap fits the 845 bottle like it was made for it. No leaks & nozzle is easy to clean as Bobbie said.

:iagree: , I've faced a small leakage in a bottle's cap yesterday, and although I have the suggested tape at reach, I believe I was 'too busy / lazy' to think of some fix at the time and worked with the small leakage.

Reading through this thread I realized 'why haven't I thought about using this tape yesterday?!',

Thanks to everyone who put every effort into sharing all those tips, this collinite thread already helped 2 non-collinite related problems ahhaha

Kind Regards.

I transfered it to another bottle as well. That cap is crap. One would think they would change it since everyone has a problem with it. And since 845 goes on so thin, there are at least 12-15 applications in one bottle meaning that cap needs to go on and off many times with serious shaking in between.

I think you will have to use Tape + Flip top cap. Frequent opening and closing of cap, tape will be gone in no time. :)

I agree it is a little testy to find a cap that can fit properly. Many won't properly fit the original 845 Bottle.

I found one rummaging through odd and end supplies and came up with this one which works perfectly, and does not clog so easily. When I shake, I simply hold my finger on the top.

I'm thinking this one came from some Dishwashing Soap Bottle.

Ok so I discovered the cap weakness by shaking it (without holding) the cap, until it exploded! Learned the hardway!

Change the top was the first thing I did.

I put an old AMMO flip top on it, which is the same as Meg's Ultimate Polish/Compound.

Nearly all of my bottles have similar threads, I can interchange sprayers and tops on almost all of them. So always save your bottles/tops! I have a whole box of left overs.

(except Iron-x, that stinky stuff gets pitched ASAP)

Went to the local tractor dealer, the top of a gear oil bottle fits perfectly. They had many just laying around so picked up a few for free.

I too learned this the hard way...and in the kitchen no less (some of the window and drywall are protected for quite some time now).

I think what makes the original cap leak is the absence of the little cardboard disc inside the cap. Sometimes that comes off the first time you open and sometimes it will stay in there through a couple openings.

Mine never leaked while keeping one finger on the lid, but I did transfer most of it to a Meguiars bottle with the clean tip. Those lids don't tighten real well either, so make sure and hold it down when you shake that as well.
