Collinite 845 not beading after 2 days.

Yeah soon enough pollen will be rearing its ugly head, worse for us black car owners too! Can't wait to get my spring detail done to combat this dreaded foe!

I just applied a fresh coat of 845 on friday, It rained last night and the entire car looks like it isn't wax. There are NO beads on the trunk, roof, or hood, only some flat drops of water, what unwaxed paint looks like. The car is beading on the sides though.

I applied it over PB BH.

  1. What is the year and make of the car?
  2. Have you had success with Collinite 845 on this vehicle in the past?
The reason I ask, I took care of a 2003 Toyota Camry XLE for about 10 years. Regardless of how I prepped the finish, cleaners, polishes, liquid prep's, I could not get a protectant coat to last more than 1 week for waxes and 2 to 3 weeks for sealants. My conclusion was something in the paint itself. The color was light silver and was garaged.

I was able to achieve success using Optimum Opti-Coat. I applied two coats of this product leveling it then allowed it to cure. I worked on one panel at a time to ensure complete coverage. The last time I worked on the car it was still looking like new.

May be a dumb question and forgive me if I offend you, did you mix the 845 before use? It separates and gets clumpy while sitting.

It turns out it was the pollen run off from the trees when it rained.

I re waxed Sunday, hopefully I get a better run out of the wax this time.

I noticed my moms car this weekend was suffering from the pollen, it has Sonax Polymer Netshield on it. If its not pollen season then its love bug season down here! It never ends!

Pollen kills the look of a waxed car.

I live in NC (where we have "pollen storms" in late March/April) and my suggestion is--if you are still having issues--that you generally make sure you are inside with the garage door closed before re-applying. After you shut the door, wipe the car completely down again to remove all pollen and then wax. There is so much of it in the air this time of year in the south, it's tough to apply topcoats outside until May.

Pollen is bad news! It's about time for that stuff to start flying around, but I will take it over being cold. I'm ready for Spring.
