Hi all. First time on this forum.

I have a 2010 f150, black metallic. Some guys on the f150 forum say the collinite 845 is not recommended for dark colors. Is this true? I'm currently using wolfgang highgloss sealant 3.0 with mothers on top. Would like to try the 845 after the wolfgang. Any other suggestions for black metallic to make it pop would be welocome.

Thanks much!!

845 looks awesome on dark colors!

It gives black a wet look and the durability is amazing. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed!

Just ensure you apply it in the shade, nice and thin and allow it to haze prior to removing.

Should I use the 845 by itself or is ok with the wolfgang?

I've never used it over the wolfgang sealant, but have used it over Menzerna powerlock and over DP Poli-coat with no ill effects.

I don't see an issue as long as you let the sealant cure fully before applying the 845.

I think you will be happy with the results, it is my go to wax at this point when I need something cheap, durable, and still looks goods for family/friends. Used it on everything from red to black.

I use it on my black 2011 Dodge Charger. Works great, beads water like crazy. I love the stuff.

845 looks great on everything as far as i'm concerned. definitely gives black the wet look as mentioned above

I've used it over wolfgang as well as other sealants plenty of times (after allowing them to cure). definitely feel it amps up the gloss and the protection

I've read that 845 contains a small amount of solvents, which could potentially remove some / all of the underlying sealant. I don't necessarily believe in this theory and will continue to use 845 as a top coat, but it is something that's been discussed. If you do subscribe to this theory, consider topping the sealant with something you're certain has no cleaning ability such as megs 26, pinnacle souveran, WG fuzion, etc

anyone used it over blacklight? I think I'm gonna give this a try. The blacklight will give it a great look while the 845 gives it durability

always warm up 845 before using...I let very hot water flow over the bottle for 10 min..

I can't complain about it's look on black (that's my car on Autogeek's Collinite page :) )

Haven't found a color yet that it has looked bad on, metallics included!

Thanks guys for all the input. Got myself a bottle today. Gonna strip down the truck this weekend and and use the WG and top it with the 845.

Jeff,

Always keep in mind that the final quality is largely determined by the finish prep work prior to applying the last step product....

  1. Wash
  2. Clay
  3. Polish
  4. Seal
  5. Wax

I agree 100% Bobby!! Thats why I told wife and kids this weekend is time for me and my truck to bond!! LOL

I have heard from people that SOMETIMES if 845 is put on thinly and in a complete liquid state, it can look like your just spreading Vaseline all over the car.
I use it on dark colored cars, and have had no issues with it as of now.

I'm in the minority here, but I don't particularly care for 845 on my red car. It has a very bright, shiny look - too bright for me, I think it makes my red car seem somewhat pinkish.

I use 845 over Duragloss and it looks great and lasts 6 months since I detail my vehicles twice a year. It looks great on my silver and dark blue vehicles.

Always looks good for me. Easy to use by hand, but even easier with DA. Smells like Raid, though.

thats 10 minutes of wasted time, for me i have my collinite in smaller bottles if its cold out to put in my pocket when im about ready to wax so will be perfect consistancy, if its spring/summer i just set the bottle in the sun when im about ready, speaking of setting products in the sun, dont set iron x out in the sun will end up squirting out of the nozzle!.
