I spent the weekend on doing full workout on my car. It is the first time I went through these steps all at one. The color is black and the car has 12k miles on it. I started with a CG citrus and shine wash, then I clayed the entire car. I did a light wash and dry. I then used Duragloss 111 and followed up with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant which I got on there very thin. At that point the finish looked great, well wet very glossy. Slight swirls but I figured thaty were there before. The next day I finished off with Collinite 845. Well now not really happy. I opend the bottle only to be found with paste that would not come out of the bottle. then got some out and started to apply. Noteasy as the clumps needed thining out. I remember somewhere guys were putting the bottle in hot water to break down the clumps into a purable liguid. That worked and I was able to get better spreading of the 845 and not anymore large buildups. I finally got to the end and buffed the car out. Other then some spots were easier than some due to the heavy build up, my glossy shine was gone away. It became more of plexiglas than glass. What happen? Afer a few hours in the shade I took it out into the sun, Now after a while I can see this wet haze on surfaces that I could wipe up with a towel. But it looked more like I had sprayed a even coat of varathane on it. I kept wiping till I got it all off, but the shine is not there like it was before I put the 845 on. So I'm not too impressed. Did I miss something or this wet look is not really there. The more I mess with it the more I think I'm adding more swirls. I'm doing this all by hand and I use just cotton terry appicators. I'm beinging to think my applicators are adding to the swirls, even though the products recomended them, and I use in straight line and not in circluler motion.

Get some microfiber pads if you're using your hand, or foam! Why not get a machine? It'd cut down on a lot of the time you spend and will get rid of those swirls!

845 needs to be applied thin, Nick has a great sticky thread in the how to guide to apply 845 correct.

Do the problem spots correspond with the areas you applied the clumpy wax on?

Collinite #845: The Definitive How-To Guide For This Legendary Wax

It sounds like you either applied the wax too thick or the paint sealant didn't fully cure before you applied the Collinite.

While "topping" is popular, I've found that 845 can be finicky when applied over certain sealants, especially if applied incorrectly.

This is one of those instances where more is not necessarily better. :dblthumb2:

Nick's sticky is a fantastic walkthrough on this great product. :dblthumb2:

The sealant had sat overnight in the garage about 17 hours before the 845 went on. It does seem to be where it was the thick goop where I have the issue.

Might be an issue with sealant over sealant (#111 & Wolfgang) both sealants. Lack of cure time and or inability to play well together. I've layered #111, 105 and 501 over 845 with no issues after the specified cure time.

My understanding is the 111 is a cleaner, light, but still a cleaner. The wolfgang being a true sealant, and the 845 as a wax. I cant see where you would layer a cleaner and or sealant over a wax.

Correct tach18k.... was trying to say 845 as a topper for #111, 105 or 501. Multi-tasking overload here today! Sorry for the confusion.

This is from Duragloss.com:
Duragloss CCP (Clear Coat Polish) is a non-abrasive synthetic formula, which gives a "wet look" shine and durable protective coating. Durable to both acid and alkaline washes. Can be applied to the entire vehicle in the sun or shade before removing easily for a high gloss and protective coating.

Recommended for vehicles less than 1 year old. Can be applied as a final coat/sealer after using #101, 105, or 501.

Step Saver Tip - Blend 4 parts #111 to 1 part 601, Polish Bonding Agent for added durability and gloss. Accelerates the curing process for instant bonding. Apply within 2 hours after mixing for maximum results.

I would guess that you applied far, far too thickly, and are seeing unbuffed wax residue. Also, if you apply too thick, 845 can "sweat" - you'll see a haze appearing a couple of hours after you buff off, looking exactly like you hadn't buffed the wax off at all.
