Collinite #845: The Definitive How-To Guide For This Legendary Wax

I have a couple of questions about topping with Collinite 845.

I currently use WG FG 3.0 and finish the job with Fuzion. I have used this for a couple of years and really like the way my vehicles look. If needed, I will use the WG TSR 3.0, but that is normally about 1 time per year.

The last time I applied the WG Fuzion was about 4 weeks ago. I recently obtained a sample of the Collinite 845 product. I washed both vehicles last weekend and decided to apply the 845. The product went on very good and came off with no problems. I think it made the paint pop even more and when it rained the other day, the water just ran off the vehicles.

My questions are,
1.) If I follow my original steps listed above after removing the WG Fuzion, how long do I need to wait to apply the 845?

2.) Can I apply it in the same day just adding one more step?

3.) Can I go directly from the WG FG 3.0 to the Collinite 845 instead of using the Fuzion?

4.) Will the vehicle look as good? The paint is in very good condition.

5.) I know the 845 should/will last longer than the Fuzion; can I apply the 845 about every 10-12 weeks after washing the vehicle as long as the vehicle does not need the above mentioned steps? I stay away from car washes and the vehicles are in a garage every night.

Thanks,
Mike

845 is good enough to use without a sealant. I use it every winter and it does very well.

845 can last 4 months easily and likely longer unless you put your car through a fair amount of abuse. Try 2 layers of 845 and see what happens (just an idea). There is no cure time for TSR and FG; once you are done you can go straight to your LSP (845 or Fuzion).

Just got my bottle today, it's 100 degrees here in Los Angeles today and the heat had thankfully liquified 845 for me! hahaha

Hi,

If the weather man is correct we should have a beautiful day tomorrow.Time to prep my SUV for the winter. Before proceeding I have five questions:

1- Does this product stains the trims?

2- I want to apply 2 thin thin thin coats is there a cure time between the two coats?

3- I want to use LC CSS grey pad to apply the wax using my Flex 3401 I'm I correct?

4-To buff the wax I was thinking using my PC 7424XP with a microfiber bonnet over the original backing plate supplied with the PC.?
5- Should I wax the entire car before buffing or work a little section at a time?

Thanks in advance for your answers.
Best regards,
Johny.

That will answer some questions you have.

1. It's not recommended for trim.

2. If you look at the faq, it says to call them for cure times, even though two coats isn't necessary.

3. I used a gray ccs pad to apply mine and it worked great.

4. I like spraying quick detailer on it then buff it off with a soft mf towel, but there are many other ways.

5. This wax goes on so easy I'd just wax then entire car then come back and remove it after you've applied it to the whole car.

Thanks KillaCam. Job done today and was surprised how easy the Collinite Wax was to work with.I apply just one coat and topped it with Füzion.I am very happy with the result My car shines like a diamond and protected for several months.

Just did my first coat of 845 yesterday. Very easy to use. Wondering if I could go over it today with Flitz Waxx Speed Wax, just to add another layer of protection? Thanks.

I applied a coat of Collinite 845 using my PC7424XP with a LC flat blue pad after putting on Poorboy's Black Hole with a LC black flat pad. I applied way too much product but didn't really have problems buffing it off. I probably used nearly half the bottle. It was my first time putting a wax using a polisher though. Next time I'll be sure to follow this guide. Thanks

Nothing wrong with topping 845, but if you have the time, just lay on another coat of the same 845. Once you get the process dialed in, it's as about quick to use as any other wax, except for the quick wax products. Living in PA, my winter DD gets two coats of Collinite for all-winter protection. This year I did 476, since I have a new GG D/A, but 845 has served me well the past two years. If we get an unusually warm day in January, I'll do a quick pass with Optimum Wax.

845 is one of those hiden gems.......Hot water works great on breaking it up too, just let your bottle float in a container with hot water........

Thanks to this guide I successfully used 845 for the first time today. Did it by hand though. Kept it thin and it passed the finger test by the time I was done going over the whole car with wax. Wiped right off with a gold plush mf. My 6 month old Outback thanks the OP.

Ended up doing another coat today. When washing my car, I was amazed at the beading from the first coat. The water would bead, and just slide right off the car. This stuff is no joke. Letting the second coat cure right now, and will be out there in a few buffing it off.

Edit: I applied by hand today, whereas I applied the first coat by machine. I actually preferred by hand.

I want to add something to this thread. I've been using 845 a while now and I need to set the record straight. By following the small number of suggestions on here, I have been applying it to my black trim. It stays black, beads water like crazy, makes it easy to clean, keeps it BLACK, looks better than perl or ultima products and lasts longer, and finally it's keeps my trim black! I touch it up with meg ult quick wax and my trim doesn't look chalky or faded.
You think I like this product? :D

I keep my bottle in the laundry room right above the dryer. Works perfect. Love this stuff!!

Just wanted to report that 845 saved my wifes daily driver this past weekend. Unfortunately, the car was "egged" over night. When I went to rinse and wash the car the following day, the egg came off with very little effort. It was really impressive! I've had egg dry on non-waxed cars before and it's a pain in the @ss to remove. 845 made it so much easier to remove.

Thanks collinite!

I love it. Beads nicely, and I'll will try it on my trim after treating it with the Perl I just got off BOGO!

I have cleaned the black trims with IPA and waxed them with Collinite 845. Water beads like crazy and the trims stay black. I love this wax.
