Collinite #845: The Definitive How-To Guide For This Legendary Wax

As with 845 and 476, the key on 915 is thin, thin, thin.
Don't work too far ahead, as 915 can be very tough to remove if left to haze too long. As soon as it passes the swipe test wipe off the haze. I find that if I apply on two panels and wipe off the first, staying one panel ahead as I go around the car, it works pretty well for me.

This works well for me too. I had a dumb moment a few weeks back and did my entire car with 915 before wiping......won't do that again. The other times I used it, I did it exactly as BillyJack stated and it was easy to work with.

I believe you on this for sure as you wouldn't have posted it otherwise but I've applied 4 coats of #915 to my car, the last 3 were applied to the entire car and then removed, no problems. I do this in our underground parking spot, out of any sun FWIW.

Depends on the size of the vehicle also. Applying to an entire SUV then wiping off night yield different results wiping off.

In an unrelated application, well kinda, I applied #845 to my car and let it sit on the car for 2 days and then removed it. I did this as a little test, nothing more, nothing less and yes, it came right off w/o a problem! Love Collinite!

Any recommendations of a good quick detailer to use once 845 has been applied/cured.

Love 845 just looking for something to keep it fresher between.

A lot of make QD out of our rinseless washes, there's usually a ratio for it on the jug on the back.

I've used a few QD's including Griot's, Optimum (both OID and diluted ONR), as well as a few Meguiar's, and haven't found anything yet that doesn't play well with any of the Collinites.

While 845, 476 and 915 last seemingly forever, the slickness and gloss do diminish a bit over time. Using a wax-as-you-dry product, such as Griot's Spray-On Wax or DG Aquawax (my personal favorite) will bring some bling back.

I have tried several but my favorites are Megs Ultimate Quick Detailer, ONR with Nuba, and UWPP. ONR and UWPP are versatile in their uses.

This stuff is awesome! I'm from Singapore. We have hot, humid and wet weather together within a day most of the time, tropical country.

I applied one coat of Collinite 845 about a month back and after 10 washes with Megs NXT, the beading is still going strong. The layer of dirt that came with the rain masked the gloss but you can still the incredible protection.

Thanks for the great write-up Nick.

Following the advice of the experts here in my other thread, I had placed an order for the 845 wax, Klasse AIO, and a foam applicator pad.

I already bought a Mother's clay kit locally. So I will be claying the brand new car this weekend, weather permitting, applying the Klasse AIO, and then finishing with the 845.

My question is, do I need to wash the car after claying and after apply Klasse AIO?

or can I just do all 3 steps (clay, polish, wax) without washing the car in between?

It was probably 90+ degrees when I made my mistake......car was, and had been in the shade, and the panels were not hot, but they weren't cold by any means.

I would probably wash after the clay and before the AIO just to be sure the clay lube is gone before you apply the AIO. Once the AIO is applied, you're ready to wax.

If I applied 845 around 10am and it rained at 3am the next morning, would that affect the cure process? I noticed the slight hazing a few days after the last time I applied and it had rained but sooner than this time around. I also may have applied a bit too thick. This time around, I barely used a half ounce for my whole 2013 jetta

Thanks Nate.

How long should I wait to apply 845 after polishing the car with Klasse AIO?

Thanks Nate.

Well I'm not Nate but 12 hrs is the general rule w/ Klasse products, even KAIO. I take it your polishing w/ KAIO was done on paint that didn't need much correction but rather a general clean-up?

The 12 hour time frame is between layers of SG to make sure they cure. This isn't the case since he's using the 845 as the LSP.

AIO is ready to go as soon as you buff it out.

About a month ago, I did some maintenance on my Lawn Boy mower in preparation for fall leaf-mulching. After scrubbing the bare aluminum underside with a soft wire brush chucked in a drill, I gave it a liberal coating of Collinite paste for the first time. Yesterday, after a few days of rain, I was unable to wait long enough for the lawn and fallen leaves to dry, so I had to reluctantly cut a slightly damp lawn. Upon completion, I flipped the mower on its side, expecting to find an ugly mess of damp clippings. Quite surprisingly, I found it still clean underneath, needing no attention at all.
Normally, I'll use up my stock of undesirable OTC waxes on things like lawn equipment, but from now on, my Lawn-Boy gets Collinite, period.
