Collinite #845: The Definitive How-To Guide For This Legendary Wax

I got a bottle on the way. reading this thread is very helpful. Thanks to Nick! Knowing me I would have used much more than what is suggested if I didn't read this! Looking forward to trying it out. :) I got little 1oz bottles I used for eliquid, so maybe I use some of those. Since it seems like 2oz or less is enough to do a whole car. If I put some in two little bottles like that should be good! They are LDPE plastic. hopefully that works. :P

If you decide to pour it off into smaller bottles be very sure you mix the 845 REALLY well first. 845 separates really easily, and I'd hate for you to fill up bottles that contained a bad mixture of the ingredients.

If you get the flip-top cap AG offers with 845 (listed at the bottom of the product page) you can control the flow of product much better and should have any issues applying too much product.

I was thinking of getting some of the megs bottles, but we'll see. I would need to justify the shipping costs to Canada. It is the only reason I haven't ordered anything from autogeek yet. This is by far the best site for finding detailing products, but the shipping and duty fee's would kill the price for me. Things like Megs x-press wax is really hard to find here in Canada without someone jacking the price up to unrealistic numbers. This detailing addiction is expensive enough as it is haha! Would be nice to see autogeek create a Canadian distributor that actually carries a good range of products. hint hint. ;) places like eshine are always out of stock, and the prices are above average. Anyway I still love this site either way. :) Always useful, and it's why I got a bottle of 845 on the way. With a few CarPro products to try out too! :)

Thanks for the tips. I'm really looking forward to trying 845 out. I may end up sticking a layer on sooner than I planned lol

i'm getting first my bottle of the 845 this month, and i plan to use this product on a car that's a month old. First wax applied on it was the Mother's synthetic wax. Then it has been maintained with mothers spray wax, and mothers Instant Detailer in between waxes.

Do i still need a pre-wax polish before i apply the 845? Or do i just wash and dry, then apply the 845?

Appreciate any suggestions you guys can share. :)

To be honest, the car sounds like it is already well protected. I'd wait until your current wax has worn out and then apply the 845. It probably wouldn't hurt to put it on top of the existing wax if you wanted to do it now.

Finally applied 845 to my car today. Why isn't it slick like waxes normally are?

Bringing this back up, maybe it's been answered...I plan to do a full correction on a car this weekend and was wanting put WG sealant 3.0 down first and then putting 845 on top of that. Thoughts? Wait time between applications?

I would wait 24 hours to apply the 845 Let the WG cure.

After 7 months, washed, clayed, rupes system (21mk1, nano, uhs compound & pads) WDGPS3.0 and COLLINITE 845.

@Nick, do you still recommend Lake Country Hydro-Tech as your pad of choice for applying C845?

Thanks for info I have a bottle on its way. It seems as though this the only wax all can agree on so I thought I give it a try

Great! I just put on a second coat today over my HD Speed correction.

Apply thin, which is easy to do, and wipe off any time.

(Truth be told, I was so wiped from an all day detail yesterday, I missed the removal on my tailgate. Today, it wiped off effortlessly).

Awesome. That's what I plan to do tomorrow's on white Toyota truck.

I used 845 on my shower cabin glass yesterday. I love when stuff cleans itself.

Excellent written guide Nick, which still holds even after so many years!

I bought the two 5/5 inch pads are recommend for the polish and wax.

-Single 5 1/2 X 7/8 Inch Hydro-tech Crimson Finishing Foam Pad
-Lake Country Hydro Tech Tangerine Light Polishing Pad, 5.5-inch

Since I don't have an electric buffer, is there a polish/wax pad handle someone can recommend that goes with these pads? Thank you.

Looks like AutoGeek sells the 3" version, I bet they can also get you the larger version linked above...

I know I'm several years late to the party here, but I signed up to thank Nick for this great guide! It was my first time using 845, I'm trying it out this year as my pre-snow wax for winter up here in Canada.

The tips for pre-warming to liquify and to only apply an ultra-thin coat were fantastic, I put a flip-top lid on the container and applied by hand with a Meguiar's foam pad. Removal seemed very similar to Meguiar's #16 that I've used in the past: if you put it on too thick, prepare to be punished when it's time to remove it!

Thanks so much for posting this, going with this as my go-to for 3 cars.

Used 845 for the first time today. Last week, I put a layer of Zaino Z2 on the A6. Today, I put a layer of 845 on top of that. Followed the directions as expressed at the beginning of this thread. Excellent directions by the way. Super easy to put on using a foam pad. Super economical. Did 2 panels at a time. Spread thin as all have directed. When I finished the 2 nd panel, I then wiped off the 845 from the previous panel. Super easy to take off. Though, I don’t find the shine to be any different than the Z2. Decided to put it on the shower glass as well in the Master Bathroom.
