Collinite 845 - the "Rocky Balboa" of waxes

bump

Gotten rained on a couple times since my first post in this thread. Still beading very nicely.

Been using the collinite since the recommendations on this forum and of all the waxes that I have bought, it is the only one that I have purchased a second bottle. I will continue to use it over and over until i find something better, but I do not believe i will. All these new sealants can't match the protection of it for twice the price. It looks pretty darn good as well!! There was a thread on this forum or another where they rated 9 different waxes from collinite up to $200+ waxes in a blind test on the same color car where people voted. The collinite was either 2nd or 3rd and I believe it was the cheapest of all the waxes tested!!

I've said it before, I'll say it again: this is the best bang for the buck sealant/wax that you can buy.

It does get plenty of praise though, and I don't consider it an underdog at all.

Gonna have to dig up that thread. I would be very interested in seeing that. One day I am going to order this stuff.

That was Collinite 915 though, not 845.

Truly is a remarkable product. I got wind of it a while ago and have been using it on my vehicles that get a fair amount of abuse. I use it on my GF's SUV (tunnel washes if up to her and nothing else), my daughters car when she finds the time to leave at my house for a day(maybe once a year) and most impressively our jet skis once a year. These get thrown in the salt water, thrown in rivers and lakes, run thru all sorts of muck and they rinse clean at the end of the day and look good. Can't beat it for durabliity and ease. Just got a new bottle.

i just got my order of insulator wax today. i've just got a general question about it. is it suppose to be more liquid form or wax form? from some pictures that i've seen, i've been led into thinking that it is a liquid wax. i don't know if it's the cold weather but it looks pretty solid. have to squeeze pretty hard to get it out of the bottle. any clarification would be awesome. thanks in advance

Shake shake shake...shake shake shake...shake your booty...shake your booty!!!

You have to shake it up and it'll get nice and liquidy. Just keep shaking it as you use it.

And when you are done doing that, shake it some more!

Absolutely! Another thing that some people do is to place the bottle in warm water, first. This helps to warm it up to reduce the amount of shaking you need. Many threads here on the subject of shaking and warming up 845, but most of them go something like this:

Another good tip for using 845 is to replace the cap with a normal dispenser cap.

Holycow! that was hilarious and unbelievably true. after giving just a few good shakes, it turned to the liquid form i expected. thanks guys! you guys are awesome! hahaha. shake shake shake shake shake!

I just put a coat of it on my swirled up white van. Not to make it look better but to make it easier to wash.

A fresh bottle appears fairly congealed. The more you shake it the easier it pours. The first few times you open the lid there will be a plug of product in the opening... poke it back down and shake some more. The consistancy will eventually be pourable. If it doesn't loosen up fast enough for you place the bottle in some warm water for a while and shake some more.

A little tip I'm reminded of every time I see the splotches of 845 on my garage door and walls... DO wipe the threads off when replacing the cap and keep your thumb over the lid when you shake the beejeezus out of it. The stuff is so slick the cap comes right off the threads if they have product on them.

Save your flip tops from other products and find one that fits the Collinite bottle. I find that once 845 is of pourable consistancy squeezing a few dots out of a flip top is a more effective way to get it out of the bottle. When I first start applying and the applicator is still dry I drip little dots all over the hood or wherever I'm starting. Once that area is covered it's amazing how far the applicator will go without more product once it gets saturated.

Hope you like the bottle, you're going to have it a looong time :xyxthumbs:

yea, i saw the "plug" even after shaking it vigorously and the entire bottle has turned to liquid. i gave the bottle a little squeeze to move the plug and then it slips down the opening and in with the rest of it's liquid friends. haha. didn't want to contaminate the wax with my finger. good advice on having a finger over the cap. didn't do it earlier. fortunately it didn't give my living room a new coat of "paint". i was thinking of using one of the little bottles that i got as free samples from AG to distribute the product onto the pad. the hole is small enough to apply in a more controlled way instead of pouring it out of the bottle. i can't wait to use this and the 915. this whole shaking thing is kinda fun. i find myself shaking the bottle for no apparent reason. maybe just don't want it to go back to it's initial form. haha

I wonder how many times the word shake is used in 845IW threads.
