Collinite 845

All good info guys I want something that will last and look good!! :xyxthumbs: I was leaning towards the M105 and M205 after using the clay bar for the first time I guess time will tell if it works out for me..

That's a tried and true method for sure, I like M101 becasue for me, it finishes LSP ready and low dust but then again I've never tried the M105/205 combo though, just speaking about what works for me. I also like Meg's UC, that's available in most stores too:props:

I have now used 845 on 3 vehicles after my research on this forum and deciding to try 845.

I have found that it is super easy to apply, leaves a nice shine and lasts a long time. I am going on 5 months on my Excursion in FL and it is still doing great.

When I wash, I do follow up with Mequire's Xpress Spray Wax (D156) as a drying aid. The combo seems to be great.

Also, it seems to be a great value since it takes so little product to go a long way. I have had no issues on removal.

So all the sheeting and beading that is there could be due to the Meg's spray wax. What makes you think there is any Collinite still there?

...because D156 isn't going to remove any of the #845, LOL!

Hmmmmm

How are you able to subjectively evaluate 845 when using this on top if it?

We AGO'ers are terrible testers...we can keep our hands or products off of our cars long enough to really see what specifically is producing the results

I too am guilty

Why so confident that D156 is not removing "any" of the 845?

I believe the additional passing of a microfiber over your paint...even by itself, will remove some amount of whatever is on the paint

I find it very hard to believe that a spray wax, being applied over the top of a good wax, is removing enough to make a difference, call it an "uneducated guess". Sure when your rub ANYTHING across the top of your LSP its removing something, rain, wind, etc does the same thing too, right. I believe what was posted about what's in D156 but I'm sure it also has something in it that applies protection too.

We're talking something thinner than microns here guys, LOL!

I agree, that it probably removes very little of the 845, I say probably bc I don't know fo sho

My main point was that anytime someone is going to make claims regarding and LSP...it needs to be that LSP Naked

Just to provoke some additional thought:

What if the D156 lasts a week and you wash every two weeks...

Doesn't that leave a week where the 845 is exposed and being degraded?

If so, could you end up with D156 and zero Collonite 845 underneath it?

It might not remove the collinite but it will add protection, making it seem like the collinite is still there when in fact it's just the spray wax beading.

Just curious... Is it of any use to apply anything above 845? I mean will it even stick? Sealant on top of wax is waste isn't it?

Does quick detail er contain abrasive, wont that reduce life of 845?

How does spray wax work? Can it be layered on old wax layer? wont it just slip off?

Newbie here...hehe Questions might appear silly to you, but not to me. ;)

I find Megs D156 to be pretty durable, probably close to 4 weeks by itself. I do agree with numerous posters on here, we truly don't know if it is the D156 at this point or the 845. While I don't think D156 is removing the 845, it is surely acting like the LSP.

Nothi9ng wrong with this by the way, it is why the make, and we use spray waxes (sealants), because they extend protection and give us the just detailed look.

I am a decent user of Collinite (845, 915, 476) as well as Megs Ultimate Waxes (both liquid and paste) and DG (105, 501, 101, 111, 601). Depending on my mood is what I put on. In the summer of 2012, I had some 845 as a base, with 476 over top, just one coat of each. That summer, I did not use any spray wax or quick detailer, just weekly washes. While the water beaded up with no problem, after 4 months on the car, the look was gone, you know the just detailed look. Don't know about the rest of you, but that is why I use D156, or DG 951, it keeps the look, and extends the life of what is sitting below it.

RPPM - which product from Meg's comes close to the DG sealants?
Sorry for going off topic but you seem to have very good experience with all of them.

Ultimate Liquid Wax, which is 100% sealant. However, it does not have any cleaners, even very mild ones like DG 105. Think of it like DG 111 with more of a traditional wax look. I have not had the issue, but others have had it streak on dark cars. This is just the polymers setting up, the streaks will go away within 24 hours or so.

You can add M21 into the mix as well. I found out that M21 has no cleaners in it as well.

Thanks. Is Ultimate paste wax different from Ultimate Liquid wax? Or just paste VS liquid.

They're the same. Liquid is an easier application.

I wonder if they last the same length? Paste/liquid?
Hmm
