Collinite Marque D'Elegance & Other Wax/Sealant Recommendations

The "look" of any wax is always a matter of individual opinion, but since you asked, I'll give you mine:
FK1000- so-so for looks, good durability. It didn't impress me at all on the paint, but it's the toughest wax/sealant I've ever used on wheels, so it will always have a place on my shelf.
DP Max Wax and Dodo juice- I group these together since they both share similar characteristics IMO. Excellent looks, but no longevity. These are some of my favorites on my garage queen El Camino, along with Fusion and Souveran
Collinite 915- Probably the best of both worlds, with outstanding durability along with looks that rival the "beauty" waxes.

From the above responses it seems both FK's are average lookers and the rest are the beauty queens. I believe Max Wax has been called the poor mans Souveran as its very close in looks,ease of use and durability, and S100 is P21S relabeled at half the price.
 
I do remember using S100 back in the day and it was really easy to use, available at most Harley dealerships, well, it used to be anyways.

Or, and it would probably make more sense, just to buy one (either 476 or 915) and use that year round to top 845.

476 should be applied first as it us the longest lasting. If u apply a wax with a short life first, the next applied wax will only last as long as the first.
You want the base wax to last the longest.

Max Wax goes on like butter. Easiest wax I ever used. I dunno bout longevity cuz its on a garage queen, plus I wax too often.

And per our previous debate I gotta throw M26 in this mix.
You and I are fans of both 915 and M26. Like you I layer them in this order.

M26
IMO you cant go wrong with either for good looks. Nor can you argue with the trophy count resulting from a good wax shine.

Sure, after application, so many products "wow".

How do they wow 2, or 3, or 7 weeks down the road?

One test that I've always commonly used, is the fingernail test.

Megs anything for so many years was usually gone after the first wash or rain. Bird droppings, nada.

Back in the '80's, I dropped anything named Meguiars, for a local small wax factory, whom the owner was throwing Carnauba Flake into his products like there was no tomorrow. Sadly, he's gone, (morto) not forgotten, and still have some of his custom made products on hand, both here, and 1200 miles away.

Yeah, Megs came along with #20, number #21, or whatever darn numer of the day, better, easy, better lasting, but still can't hold a candle to Colly #476, #845, #915. Nor WGDGPS 3.0 Menz Powerlock, DG 501-105-111, Zaino, and hell, by the time you get through, you might as well been spending your money at wally world for a box of turtle wax.

I lived in Chicago as a kid, I used to watch out my grandma's window, seeing the big green turtle going round and round. Big bucks I heard that was to power!
 
As one of my buddies used to say at work (Amtrak) "Silicon",or commonly better known as Silicone.

Yep load a product with such, high shine, and looks fanastic, but maybe only for the show car circuit, or a sunday driver. That's how many Megs products looked to me for many many years.

Still, to this day, have no desire to return to Megs for paint protectants, unless things change.

I got a Frank D'Amato custommixed pure Nuba here, on ice, don't know what I'm saving it for, maybe a '66 Chevelle 396? Otherwise, I might part with this huge tub of lemon scented Nuba for the lowly price of $500.

It'll last you 20 years! LOL

You folks gotta know my posts are mostly in jest, but then again!
I'm old school, and always will be! LOL

Dupont once offered to buy out Frank D'Amato at "Nu Look" for $5M. Frank turned them down.

Can't blame the man, he was a "wax master", like we consider Mike Phillips to be a detailing master.

This man was like a Heisenberg of the wax regime. I've found no better, but close. Pinnacle Crystal Mist could maybe hold a candle to his detailer spray.

Combo products a glaze, a polish, and a carnauba all combined in one, and of course who were such products aimed at were detailing shops, car washes, to cut time, at super low costs to the given local shops.

Pink Magic one of his most killer, and high gloss products, I've used it on many vehicles, including all my own, and 65 caddys that took best of show. $13/gallon.

Wish I could get some more of the Pink Magic, it made a monkey's azz out of most PBMG products you will spend mucho deniro on.

Did they (Meg's) change the formula from the late 80's/early 90's? I ask because I used to use #26 all the time, mostly because of the name brand and how it smelled but I do remember it being harder to work with than what I use now, that's for sure.

I've read about Megs 26 but dont know what it is as we only get the Classic maroon bottle, Gold and Ultimate range. My experience with those were average looks, low durability and a dust magnet to paint. Link to the Megs 26 thread?

Thanks, from what I gather pricing and looks are good but durability poor, think I would be on my 6th application of this when 915 will still be on its first and beading well. Waxes with low durability are only cheap on initial purchase as you have to keep applying every now and then till you gotta buy another tin. The more I learn the more sense Collinite makes.

DG 101 is pretty good as well.

For your drag car, you could consider the Duragloss track claw polish, specifically marketed for racing due to its extra slickness offering lesser friction. I haven't used it personally, but I have used their other heavy weights and they always seem to exceed the claims.

Thanks, I see Duragloss gets mentioned alot here, I never heard of it prior to AG. I'm really curious on what other great products I may have overlooked or am oblivious to.
 
Okay got to try the Megs #26, didn't know this but the guy that used to wash my cars at the detail place around the corner only used to use # 26 on it and I didn't know, guess I've had it on a few of my cars for years but didn't pay too much attention, got some from him again to use and its okay, not bad but not 915 category of deep glossy.
 
Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but there is only one downside I've found with all of the Collinite Paste products.

That they are not hard to use, but they are hard to use up!

With only one or two vehicles to do, you will have the can for a long long time!

You'll start maybe having continuous dreams of opening a detailing shop, waxing all the cars on the block, or sneaking into some car dealership to wax their entire inventory! LOL

Because of time passing, and that any wax can become old, and then not work properly, I have for years just simply placed a small little sheet of Saran Wrap on top of the can before I snap the Lid tight on top. Seems to give a better air tight seal. (Simply trim excess) And they always reside inside the house until use.
