Colonite 845

One of my favorites! I think they should try to sell it all over the country.
 
Does it have cleaning properties? Seems I remember it to have a heavy solvent scent.

NO NO....I have customers ask "what kind of wax did you use on my car?" its still beading like crazy after 3months or longer....I alwasy tell them its a "secret" special blend.
Shhhhhhhh don't tell so they will keep coming back!
 
never have toped of a sealeant with it, no particular reason,just wondering if there may be a good combo to try?
 
Just used it for the first time today....Amazing for the price. Easy on easy off. Simple as that....For under 20$ definately cannot be beat!
 
Funny this should come up now. After hearing all the good copy on 845, I broke down and got some last order and put it on 2 "outside" cars Saturday. Wow!

It looked better than an expensive sealant on a 2010 metallic grey Toyota and great on my old Benz. I'm not too concerned with salt or snow here but the heat is relentless in the summer and wax beads about two weeks. I'm anxious to see how it holds up in the self-cleaning oven we call home.

I do think you owe it to yourself.

Collinite 845 is a really great product and it does perform as everyone indicates but it's not without a couple of minor notes..

Collinite 845 comes in a plastic bottle with an ordinary cap, no flip top.

Collinite 845 is temperature sensitive. Not that it must be applied at a specific temperature but 10 or 15 degrees can take it from a thick paste to a runny liquid. Neither of these impacts its performance at all it just makes it a little more changeling to use.

In most cases if it's a bit too thick, run it under some hot tap water for 30 seconds then shake vigorously. This changes the viscosity just enough to make it very easy to use.

Collinite 845 must be applied THIN and I mean THIN. I apply this wax with my dual action polisher using either a red or blue pad. 3 or 4 dime size dots will basically cover an entire panel.

Let it haze and buff to a brilliant shine..


The cap I'm referring to. The plus side is most of the flip top caps from any other polish will fit nicely and makes using this allot more convenient.. :props:

yes sir. i am convinced this is one of the best waxes i have used. still beading like crazy. and the look you get from it is amazing.
 
I have never used 845, how do you think it would compare to Menzerna Powerlock?

Well 845 is a hybrid sealant/wax, so it may not last as long as Powerlock, but honestly I don't know if I could tell the difference if they were side by side on a hood. I actually use Powerlock, topped with 845 as my winter prep. Lasted all winter and was still beading when I traded my truck in 2 weeks ago.
 
Used 845 for the first time yesterday and had no problems at all! It was pretty thick at first, but some good hard shaking took care of that! Applied it with my Griot's ROP using a red pad. Went on super easy, and wiped off with no problems. Like everyone says, apply it THIN! There was one panel where I put it on a bit too thick and it took a little bit of elbow grease to remove but not much. I've been using BFWD which is super easy to remove and 845 is right behind it in terms of ease of removal. I'm super excited to see how long the 845 lasts.
 
Over 30 years ago, I was sitting in a neighborhood bar with a buddy, discussing waxes. At the time I had a Corvette and a Boattail Riviera, both kept pristine. My favorites at the time were Meguiar's and Classic Slipstream. An old guy next to me at the bar leaned over and said "Collinite, son, is all you need". I found some in a local hardware store. Insulator Wax? Fleetwax? No ads in Car & Driver magazine? I wasn't impressed with the packaging or the labels, so I passed. Thanks to the folks here, I bought some 845 at the same hardware store last fall. Did my DD in early December and it was still beading in April, never having spent a single night in the garage all through a PA winter.
If I ever see that old guy in the afterlife, I owe him a beer.

I've just started using 845 and am very impressed! It seems that a little bit goes a loooong way. The shine is deep and durable. Great stuff!
 
When first reading the title I thought it was some type of colon cleanser :eek:

A recent car that I polished out, the owner requested to use his wax as the LSP. I was like sure but I have quite a few products with me that range from high end show car waxes to the most durable available. His response, "Is Collinite 845 a good wax? It's all I've ever used." I was shocked! I was expecting him to say Zaino but he had never heard of Zaino :D.
