I was detailing a Thunderbird today and it had a very light beige almost yellow seats and they were very dirty and had dirt ground into the cracks and creases of the leather. I used my Tornador with a very diluted 10:1 Megs D101 APC and it looked like the color was coming off the leather as I used the brush to get into the grain of the leather. The only way the seats would look clean was to remove a thin coat of the color. They looked fine when I was done and then I applied Megs D180 leather conditioner. Is this a normal Ford issue. it was a 2005 T Bird and looked like no one had ever cleaned or conditioned the leather properly since new.

Are you sure that the seats weren't more ivory colored, and just so thoroughly discolored/stained that they LOOKED like they were supposed to be darker?

I'm guessing it was just dirt.

My brush had a beige or yellow color on the bristles so I dont think it was just dirt.

What kind of brush did you use? Should be a very soft bristle brush and only lightly agitating. I treat leather like paint correction. Always use the least aggressive measures and work your way up if need be. Test small inconspicuous spots.
