colored bumper covers on my 94 explorer limited

Can someone give me advice on how to restore the color on my bumper covers? They have been sadly neglected. I saw a video on youtube where a heat gun was used....doesn't work for me. I really don't know what I can use to get them looking nice again. Do I need a solvent? A compound? If so, what & which one?

Also....been working on my paint. I want to clay the truck but I think I need to start with a more aggressive clay to get the heavy contaminants out. Can you recommend an aggressive clay? and after I use this clay do I need to clay again with a less aggressive clay?

A Picture of ur bumpers will help to start and we can go from there!!

Secondly...as far as claying...the golden rule for any type of paint correction is ALWAYS start with the least aggresive product!! So try a fine clay then step up if needed......more aggressive clays may leave some marring on your paint and u dont want that if finer clay will do the job!
 
thank u dr.....I will try to post a pix. Ok...i will use the Pinnacle clay if u think that's the way to start. I have a long way to go but I really would love to give some TLC to the truck that I really do love. Bought it new in '94 and it really has been a wonderful friend.

I think it might be time to get some black trim paint from the auto part store...

Any kind of easy fix is gonna be just that, a quick fix and is gonna go away quick... From what I have seen poor boys trim restorer seen to do great, HERE IS A REVIEW ON IT

But like I said before, I would just get some paint, it is cheap, (About 7 bucks if that) it would take you 5 minutes to tape, 5 to spray and it dries in 2.

I would scrub it clean and try some trim restorer.

Dubbin1 makes a good suggestion! Should work good for U!! As far as the pinnacle clay....try that first! and its bogo this week I think! Also check out the videos by Mike phillips on this site about claying.....they are very helpful!!!
 
thanks doc.....i did watch the video on claying...i will try the pbtr & the pinnacle clay. Even if the PBTR doesn't make my bumper new again I can still use it on my other trim and my leather. I will keep you posted.
