Here's a few pictures I took while working with the 303 Team at Mecum Auctions. The 3030 Staff were top notch to work with and everyone that came into the booth was treated like royalty. 303 is a major sponsor of the Mecum Auctions as such, they have a huge booth in a great location and I'm happy to say the booth stayed super busy from start to finish each day. Lots of people coming into the booth to learn about the new products as well as their favorite established products.

3 of the displays had monitors showcasing 303 products and 303's support for the car hobby.

Lots of book signings
From the time we started at 8:30am on Friday until 6:00pm, there was a constant flow of people asking questions and also getting books signed.

Andre and I kept the black demo hood busy by machine wetsanding the paint and then showing how well the 3030 compounds and polishes worked to remove 100% of the sanding marks and leave a show car finish.

Mark Harris - a great friend to Autogeek
Over the years Mark has landed a Helicopter here AT Autogeek and taken our guests for helicopter rides around Stuart. He's also let me use his Ferrari's and classic muscle cars for product reviews, how-to articles and how-to books.

More sanding and more buffing....
(I teach machine sanding and hand sanding in all my classes, even my boat detailing class)

These two gentlemen were heading to a birthday party for Matt at Obsessed Garage. They asked me to sign one of my how-to books for Matt. I've never met the guy myself but

Happy Birthday Matt!

Same kind of cars I have in my classes

I actually had a Jaguar E-type for my students to train on in my New Jersey Roadshow Class.

Wish I were attending Mike. Any guess on what the Bullitt Mustang will sell for? I’m going out on limb.. 6.5million

Nicole’s FIRST post - welcome to Autogeek Online Nicole. :props:
You’ll be out in the Show Car Garage polishing cars with Mike in no time (if you don’t already) :buffing:

So much cool stuff going on over there constantly. MTE must be the next event on the calendar too. If I remember rightly it would’ve originally been the weekend of the 10th because we changed our travel plans to head back to Orlando to attend, then they changed it ...

Geeze - the booth from last year looks great! Very cool. :props:

That Mecum auction is HUGE!! I have gone a few times, and it better than most car shows.

Hey Mike awesome pics. In your opinion, what kind of shape is the paint in on the cars there? Over the years they are typically swirled up on tv when the camera pans across them. But lately they seem to be better, is that what you are seeing first hand also?

The family and I are in Orlando for a weekend vacation today, the boy and I may run over and check things out.

I stopped by a couple of times and you were busy doing demos and didn’t want to interrupt. What a great event.

Would have liked to have been there for the Bullitt sale. I bet it was crazy. $3.4 Million, wow !

Bullitt "Fun Facts" :

- The chase scene wasn't even in the original script for the film.

- Just (2) '68 Mustang 390 GT 2+2 Fastbacks and (2) '68 Charger 440 Magnums were used in the film. Both Chargers and one of the Mustangs were junked right after the film was shot.

- On interior shots, you can tell when McQueen is driving vs. when Bud Ekins is driving. When McQueen is driving, the rearview mirror is tilted down to show his whole face; when the mirror is tilted up and you can only see the bottom part of a face, it's Ekins driving.

- Bill Hickman, the actor who played the Charger driver actually did the driving. He later did other car driving stunts in movies, including The French Connection. And he was driving his buddy James Dean's station wagon and trailer, following Dean in the Porsche Spyder, the day Dean crashed and died. Hickman pulled Dean's body from the wreckage.

Great to see you at Mecum today Mike, thanks for taking the time to chat and share your wisdom!
Always a pleasure and privilege to learn from the best.

So sorry to hear this.... I wish you would have interrupted. :xyxthumbs:

When working in a booth, if you're making noise, (running a polisher), it always works to draw people in. I've been demonstrating on black hoods since 1987 when I first started at Meguiar's and as of this month that makes 33 years of doing demos no black hoods, running the polisher and answering questions.

What a great event.

I've worked at a LOT of cars shows in my life and a few auctions. The Mecum Auction is like nothing else I've experienced.

For anyone into cars, if you ever have the opportunity to attend a Mecum Auction, by all means GO!

And wear comfortable walking shoes.... :)

Thanks for being part of the 303 team this year. It was great having you in the booth. I wish i could have made it down, this is the first Kissimmee Auction i've missed in 4 years due to schedule conflicts. It looks like it was a great time and thankfully the weather cooperated.

Hi Matthew,

It was our pleasure. And it was a blast.

This looked like an incredible event. What fantastic photos too Mike, it’s always cool seeing pictures of Forum Members, Mike Phillips fans & Detailers getting photos with you. I know this means something more than a celebrity status to you too - I believe the folks that want to have pictures with you aren’t doing so because you’re a TV personality & such, it’s because they have encountered in some form (whether it be taking part in a class you have held or an article by you that they have read) that Mike Phillips experience.

I would like to have made it along to this but timing wasn’t on our side unfortunately.
