Comedian wrecks $1.5M Ferrari Enzo

Eddie Griffin, I’m not laughing… which comes much to my chagrin because I thought all your movies were hilarious.

With rare cars like the Enzo, for every Enzo that gets totaled the value of the remaining Enzo's go up. So, it's a good day if you own an Enzo!!

I work in the finance department for a leasing company that funds highline vehicle leases and this is our nightmare. Luckily the lessee is responsible for the vehicle we just have to get the money from them.

Producer -- Hello, is this Progressive Insurance ??

Agent -- Yes, may I help you ??

Producer -- I have had a small fender-bender in my Enzo, what should I do ??

Agent --- (snickering in the background) Sir, this wouldnt have been the same Enzo on the track, that has made recent news would it ???

Producer -- Y---E---S ?? (whimpering)

Agent --- Should have went with State Farm, see clause 1.2.3.4.5.6 in size 1 font on the back of policy. Anything else we can do for you ??

Producer --- grabs magnifying glass and see's "your f**ked"

The producer was nuts for letting him drive his Enzo on the track. Enzo's are currently going for about 1M. You could have one for 600g when they first came out.

agree..........i blame the producer.....

yea, i saw this on the news today and the first thing that popped into my head was that enzo in SoCal that hit the strett light pole 12ft. up! needless to say, that one was totalled too... then again there something about it being stolen and blahblah.
Nope I know that story hehe, owner was drunk but I don't remember if it was him or the friend driving. It was that car and another one he had, think it was a Koenigsegg if I recall but he had them here as Euro cars....something about avoiding taxes or something like that on his exotics of which he got in trouble for as well.

Now the kicker, just to show how dumb some people can be, the two guys were taken in and you know what they said, "they didn't know where the diver is as he ran off". Did you catch that lol, "2" people in the Enzo said the driver was missing. Guess it didn't occur to the Police that the Enzo is only a two seater and very cramped inside. So now the police go on and say they apprehended two passengers in the car for questioning and are searching for the 3rd person presumed to be the driver LMAO, it was so funny. Obviously they eventually got busted but still, lol.

That goes for must insurance polices. You take your car on the track and wreck it you are screwed. I have also heard that some auto companies will also void the warrenty if a car has been I the track. I'm not sure if this is true or how they would find out.

BMW and Porsche are notorious for it, here's your GT3 now go have fun but if you go to the track kiss your warrenty goodbye.

To those that asked about how deals find out about track use. 1) usually it's an accident or something happens to the engine etc, and tracks keep a log of what happens on the track. Use to be you could have it towed off track and claim it was done on the street, however highly unlikely today.

2) Track use causes wear on parts much quiker then street use, so a lot of times an good dealer can pick it out. Plus front ends etc can get pitted and look like paint has been shaved from track use, night and day difference between track abuse and street abuse. You'll never see pitting or paint wear on fronts in street use unless you drive 150 mph every day on dirty streets with tiny debris lol.

3) They also find out b/c the main ones actually monitor the forums and if somebody post what happened at the track, they find out lol. Happened a ton of times.

Although Porsche is notorious for it as BMW even though they offer track meets together, a good dealer like Champion is fairly laxed as they set a lot of cars up for racing down here as well as other companies. One company that didn't care really was actually Dodge, with the Viper, you could track like crazy and take your car the next day to a dealer for warrenty work with no problem and I have a feeling it's b/c the company knows how robust that car is on the track it's basically bullet proof. However if you were to spin in to a wall...your pretty much screwed insurance wise. Champion Porsche though is good about that stuff.

But there are polices you can get to cover track use, not cheap though.

I heard a rumor that all this may have just been a publicity stunt to promote Eddie Griffin's new movie. The Enzo that was wrecked wasn't even a real Ferrari, it was one of the clones built for the movie. Like I said its just a rumor. ;)

I don't believe he couldnt brake because a cone got stuck. How many times have you guys seen people run over cones at an autocross?

Given what happened with the Cartoon Network and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, I guess it's not impossible.

If this were the case though, their credibility would be shot.
