Company name help

I would take my car to Stinky's House of Detailing any day. Love that name! Just as another member said "easy to remember" and that is key in getting first customers.

"Stinky's Detailing - If your car isn't becoming to you, you should be coming to us."

I like the image perfect. I also kinda like the last stinky with the slogan. Also throwing around Derrick's detailing service or perfected image. I appriciate all of the help everyone I really don't want to regret a name down the road.

I know the OP doesn't like Stinky's, but that's some good stuff right there. :xyxthumbs:

I have a question that is relevant to the thread:

I was originally going to start out part-time as a mobile detailer and I selected a name: "Niko's Mobile Detailing"

However, I thought about it and I decided I'll have a BOTH a mobile detailing unit AND a garage/home-based fixed location.

So I won't just be mobile. I can come to the clients or the clients can come to me.

How could I go about renaming? Note that I'm not starting business up until Spring 2016. I'm just OCD on planning and making sure it goes right the first time.

Niko's Profesional Detailing
Niko's High-End Detailing
etc. etc...

It'll say my company name across my detailing rig (obviously lol) and mention that I run both a fixed location and a mobile unit. Phone number, the slogan of "Your Before & After Specialist" and a few brand logos such as Rupes and Meguiars.

You could change it if you want, but don't feel like you have to. I work about 75% mobile and 25% at home, and still have mobile in the name. Half of the time a new customer still doesn't get the fact that I'm mobile and come to them, so either way, I doubt it matters. Just pick the one you like the most.

Wow, that is genius. That's catchy and memorable on many levels and I think that the fact that it's sort of your last name means something. People will be asking.

As for me, I went with Hudson Detailing and Hand Wash because it's my last name and I wanted to let people know I detailed and I wasn't an auto car wash. I also got to have my website as hdhandwash.com which is an abbreviation, but also is ambiguous towards High Definition Hand Wash. Most people may not get it, but it sold me. In the end it's like what others said, it's what you build the brand in to.

Bob thanks that logo looks great might use a version of that, and who doesn't like dd's? I should be very popular.

looks like you have some good ideas here. that log looks very nice. you came to the right place for suggestions :O)

Predicament between the ending of 'detail':

Midwest Auto Detail by Niko Molina

or

Midwest Auto Detailing by Niko Molina

Trying to combine having a "sellable name" with having my real name in it at the same time. The "By Niko Molina" will be in much smaller text, under the company name and off-set right of center.

Just my 2 cents:

I like the "ing" on the end of the name.

I don't like the slogan, "your before and after specialist".
Sorry, something about it rubs me the wrong way... maybe "your before TO after specialist" instead? I just feel like you get before or after with the other way it's written.

Also, maybe start your own thread so you get more responses...
Good luck! :xyxthumbs:

Oh yeah I see that I can change that around just went back to keeping it simple with DKS my full name initials

that sounds like a plan. if you are a mobile business you can add that in the second line in some way. keep u updated on the logo and business model.

I like the second pic. not too sure about the bottom line I want to read it as welcome, with a missing l .... that could just be me though lol !

I agree... I want to read it as welcome also.

Naming a detailing company is tough if you are in an area with a lot of detailers. My advise is to find something memorable and make sure the domain name is available. There is some clown in my area going around using the name OCDetails and racking up some pretty horrible reviews with his groupons. I occasionally get asked if it is me, but his work ethic is bad enough that nobody really ever makes the mistake. If push came to shove I can prove I've been here longer and could make him change it, but my name isn't trademarked either, so I'm not going to worry about it. That's the difference between a hobby detailer and one trying to make a living at it, though. If this is your livelihood then you need to pick a name that some other detailer isn't going to sue you for. I've had my domain for nearly 12 years, so it would be tough for someone to try and say they've been using the name longer than me around here, and if they aren't in a competing line of business then it isn't much of a problem either, but I wouldn't want someone moving in with lots of money who wants to open a detail shop and use my name. That would be problematic...

Anyway, my advise is to just make sure nobody else is using it. Using a family name is a safe bet. I disagree that the logo and business name don't have to have anything to do with detailing either. I would always try to make my company name and logo reflect what it is that I'm doing. As a graphic designer I'd say that is 'Design 101'. Particularly in a service related industry. It doesn't apply for all businesses, but it is too easy to do for a detailing company to go any other way.
