Complain/warning from Home Owner Association

tell them to quit being such nit picky people. doesn't seam like your disturbing the peace or making your area look like trash. Hell your cleaning lol. I hate people that have nothing better to do then complain, they need to just go sit there house and STFU. makes me want to just slap someone when they are like this. sorry I had to flame, I'm familiar with the usual HOA BS

One of the many reasons I moved out of the city. Only thing to worry about out here are loose cows and giving directions to UPS. I can even blast Waylon loud enough to hear over my Flex.

Awesomeness! :D

As for the HOA read and come prepared w/ your firepower.

I live in a condo complex and a fair amount of my neighbors are senior citizens. Luckily, I haven't had any run-ins, but I will wash their cars every now and then for free and I shovel their driveways when it snows (and we're getting our third snow storm in 10 days today - over 30" of snow on the ground).

To me, it sounds like you have one neighbor who doesn't want *any* noise in their neighborhood, coupled with an HOA that leans towards the bad end of the scale as far as being overprotective. I agree with those who suggest that you kill them with kindness. You'll also probably be better off limitng the number of cars in your driveway as well as working in your garage with the door closed until around noonish. Is it a pain? Of course, but really, there's no way to win against an HOA like yours.

People SUCK!!!!! I would never buy a house with a HOA they are all pains in the a**. I would prob just stick do doing 2 cars a week it will save you a lot of headaches.

I know the majority of HOA will have a clause written prohibiting more than X number of vehicles being in a driveway for an extended amount of time. As far as the noise decibel they'll have to prove that the Flex is actually loud enough to be in violation (which it most certainly isn't).

I've dealt with neighbors like this in the past over the years and usually it was a retired person who didn't like any type of disruption, period. Then again, it's best to stay in good relations with your HOA.

Keep your work load to 1 car per day, max. If your HOA prohibits any type of mechanical work performed in your driveway or from your home ........ well, you know what happens then.

Then anyone wanting to run a trimmer or edger for their lawn would be out of luck because those are WAY louder than any polisher I've ever heard...unless they have gas powered polishers. lol

And this is why I'll NEVER EVER live in a place with a Home Owner's Association. There are benefits, but having someone tell me how to live in my own home is unacceptable to me. That's my opinion and no one will be able to change it regardless of the benefits an HOA has for a home owner.

Amen to this! Moving into a neighborhood with an HOA is just doing nothing more than letting a lot of busybodies tell you how you should live. It's funny, I live in an older neighborhood without a HOA and my good friend lives in a brand new one with an HOA. He's president of the HOA actually as he's really into keeping everyone around him on a tight leash. He's also a cop so his neighbors pretty much live in fear of him as they know if they so much as make even the slightest mistake he'll be all over them.

Now with the bad economy his neighborhood has quite a few foreclosure homes that look terrible. There's nothing he can do about it and it drives him crazy. He would have been the first one to pounce on a guy trying to bring in some extra cash detailing a car or two a day at his house though. I'm quite happy to see my neighbor a few doors up doing quite well repairing motorcycles in his detached garage. Sure every once in a while a guy might drive by on a crotch rocket a little too fast, and there are occasionally more cars parked on the road than I'd like to see, but the guy makes good money supporting his family and his home is immaculate. In an HOA enforced area, they'd force him to quit, and he might very well not be able to find another source of income like that. Ie, another foreclosed house. A foreclosed home in my neighborhood is very rare. We've had maybe 4 out of hundreds. My friend's area? He's had more on his street alone.

I think as the economy stays bad and people are looking for other sources of income, these home based businesses will sprout up more and more. The future may see HOA's only in retirement communities as a matter of necessity or at the very least HOA's with certain relaxed rules.

As for the OP's dilemma? Tell your neighbor that you'll keep the cars off the street and limit your details to no more than one or two at the most per day. Do your best to keep the noise down during "sleeping" hours. A Flex in a closed garage though shouldn't bother anyone though. If all else fails bribe the HOA pres. with a free detail. Oh and you might want to e-mail Flex telling them that their machine is obnoxiously loud. This one e-mail alone should be enough to embarrass the Germans so much they will immediately go about redesigning the tool so that it's whisper quiet.;)

Sounds like a dictatorship to me. A couple that come to mind are; Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein and we all know how that turned out! :props:

Amen to that!! When I was in South Florida looking for a home, I found that nearly every neighborhood had a HOA. Some of the HOA's were so strict they wouldn't have allowed me to park my Highway Patrol car in the driveway!! Who in the world doesn't want a marked patrol car visible in their neighborhood? Its like free security. Good Lord.

I've always said if I can find a HOA that is willing to pay my mortgage, I will do whatever they want. I haven't found one yet that is willing to do that.
