compound dust

Is there a magic towel or something that will pick up the compound dust as you buff, I'm using a terry cloth towel and it seems to want to push it around and not pick it up very well ???

Microfiber towels are your best friends :) they pick up anything. The Cobra Microfiber towels on Autogeek.net are excellent. No complaints from my part.

Microfibers are great and all but they won't do any good with the dust. A little may get picked up but if you have a lot of dusting the only way to get rid of it is either doing a quick wash or to blow it off with a blow gun.

Just push it right off the car then, seriously. That's what I do. For me even microfiber won't pick up all of it. You can try some QD as well, sometimes a little moisture on the towel will help it pick up more dust. What compound are you using by the way? Maybe you should think about switching brands, or you could mix it with a less agressive polish, something like a finishing polish, to help keep that dust down.
 
Oh yeah I've read something about spraying quick detail on the car and wiping away.

As long as you aren't using a lot, I don't see why it would. But wouldn't you already have all the dust from pc-ing cleaned up prior to waxing? Unless you mean a nearby area. You can flick it off with a microfiber, or blow it off sometimes.

i just foam gun the car after i'm done compounding/polishing....the time it takes to qd the entire car and get every last speck of dust i can quick wash and dry in that time and it comes out cleaner....

Damnit, you got there before me. That's the only thing I use my california duster for. It works AWESOME for this.
