Compounding help?

What pads are you gonna be using? What polish you gonna follow UC with?

You still need to clean your pads after every 2' x 2' section

Takes 10 seconds and well worth the insurance of picking up a piece of grit, agglomeration of polish & removed CC and over saturation of the pad.

Well, thank goodness I have some DP Pad Rejuvenator coming in tomorrow. Thank you for mentioning that Tip AGOatemywallet, and that is what I will end doing then. I wouldn'y have known to do that. I've only used UC by hand in the past.

What day you gonna do this? I got some HD Speed you can try and see if that gives you the results you want?

Dang! That was pretty darn nice of you StephenK. I am going to do it Saturday, because even though Friday will be a tad warmer it supposed to be 30 MPH winds, which will probably bug the crap out of me.

I'm looking to do the best correction I can right now, using both a compounding and polish step followed with the lsp. This used to be my uncles car, and nothing has been done to the paint in a pretty darn long time.

Ok, also, my camera is up an ready, So photos are coming.

Project for tomorrow, since I will be on the inside of my car.

1. Take pictures of the Ultimate Protectant I have on all my interior tomorrow.

2. Remove all interior Protectant with D101, followed by and IPA solution.

3. Let dry.

4. Apply Wolfgang's Cockpit Trim Sealant. I will need to do a few coats since the Vinyl will be bone dry.

I just wanted to see how an upper end satin/matte finish product compared with the Megs UProtectant Gloss.

I LOVE the durability of the UP, and the shine is nice to, but even with the buffing off right after, the shine from the Sun's glare can be pretty bright.

This is true.^

Another simple way of cleaning on the fly is to simply have a folded terry handtowel on your cart and simply hold it against the pad and turn the polisher on.
Even with 6 cutting pads, I can't imagine going through a whole vehicle without cleaning on the fly.. Maybe if you gave me 30 pads I could do it. But then it'd be such a PITA to keep changing pads. Lol.

Man, this is definitely all new to me. I figured I just watch a couple how two videos on here, then just go at it. Thanks for this valuable help and info Eldorado2K.

It's looking like my car paint might make it a little difficult to see great results, since it's a VERY LIGHT tan color. It's tuff even seeing the swirls, which are all over it, in the bright sunlight.

My DP Pad Rejunvenator, and WG Cockpit Sealant should be here within the hour. Can't wait!

You don't clean the pads with DP pad rejuvenator until after you are completely done. I soak my pads overnight in a bucket of water mixed with DP Pad rejuvenator.

Get yourself a pad conditioning brush to clean the pad on the fly. Good reference as well.

Get yourself some more polishing pads as well. You will use those more of those.

Skip the IPA. No need for that. It can dry out plastics.

So very true.

Guz, I had used the IPA before I saw your reply here. And like an idiot, I used to high of a solution. It may have left permanent marks on some the buttons on my radio and instrument panel. They were markedly white and dried out looking, even after a WCTS application. Each day as I added a little more WCTS it seems to lessen a little bit at a time, but I'm not sure if it will ever be totally fixed. Thank goodness this is on My old and used car, rather than someone else's expensive car.

After I noticed I have tons of swirls, I started on a small section of the hood. The swirls are very hard to see since my car is a VERY light tan color, but they are there. I started with UC and the Yellow Polishing Pad so as to start with a lesser aggressive than the Burgundy pad. It looks like I might have some marring now. But that could be from it being very sunny when I did it. I kinda didn't want to move forward till I talked about this though.

What?? Is it factory paint? Honda CRV? Just take a cutting pad with some Ultimate Compound to it of speed 4.5. Make sure you do it on a cool surface in the shade, not in direct sunlight. You have nothing to be afraid of dude.

Didn't Stephen k offer you some help ?

Take advantage if hes willing to help.
