Confessions of a Frustrated detailer

Frankly, I would consider sending a letter to the owner of the dealership expressing your concern. These ignorant people at the dealership need to be properly trained and their supervisor needs to be terminated.

Provide some true facts behind your concerns.

Make sure you come off as sincere and not cocky.

Most "owners" at that level are some of the most down to earth people that you might ever meet and will likely surprise you. "They put their pants on one leg at a time too".

Having said this, this could result in you pissing some people off whom might end up looking like a clown.

It's a risk that you need to decide to take. Being 21, you can make a mistake or two and will always come away a better person provided you have learned something. In today's time you need to be somewhat aggressive to get ahead.

That's my $0.02.

Ryan, thanks that's basically what I was concerned about. Perhaps it would be better to talk to the general manager first.. The last thing I want to do is piss management off going behind their backs to the owner!!

I don't want to make enemies, I work with the detailers so it's something I need to think about. But at the same time its hard to watch all these beautiful cars get wrecked :(

I'm young, I don't know everything and there's a lot I need to learn. But theres for sure a lot that could be done here to at least prevent some of the damage to the cars.

I choose porsche so I could be the best at what I do while enjoying it and expand my knowledge.. And I'm still deciding if I should follow the detail path.

One things for sure I can only thank auto geek for the knowledge I know today so thank you!
 
Nobody cares. And 99% of the people out there don't even know what they are looking at. Detailing "properly" takes a LOT of time. They aren't going to pay the money to spend the time when most purchasers won't notice anyway. It's a lot cheaper and faster to do it half assed. I know a fair amount of people with "nice" cars. Most don't even get washed all winter, no less any type of wax or detailing. Most people are just happy driving dirty swirled out cars.

Whoah your in Cleveland, this is the land of "dumb and dumber". No not all clevelanders but there seems to be an unbalanced majority of them around these parts.

Anyways talk to your boss first then go up from there. Be calm and show genuine concern. If that doesn't work, stay there until you hone your skills and enjoy working on some of the coolest cars! That will look good on your resume!

Luckily I got my new truck when they were short on detailers and they only washed it.
 
Cleveland is my home town, dealership is in California.
 
And to anyone who said dealers don't have this time or money, dealerships do, at least ours does, we have the time in our days , we detail maybe a few used cars a week, so the times there. Easy.
