Conflicting advice from Autogeek

Today I ordered a bunch of stuff and needed some help in deciding whether to buy the Micro-Polish or the Nano-Polish.

I tried the on-line answer desk and posed the question as to which was best for my 2006 BMW as I was not sure if the finish was "hard"enough to use the Nano-polish...

The on-line answer desk was closed as it was early morning.

I left the message describing my question.
Later in the day the desk was open.
So i asked again.

In a short time someone was able to assist me. The Autogeek person said I should use the Micro-Polish .. ok, I order it and then a bit later the original email gets answered. They say I should use the Nano-Polish.

huh? Why two different answers?

Don't know why, but get the SIP and 106FF and some orange, white and grey pads if you are using a DA.
 
I cannot keep the names and numbers straight, but I use the Intensive Polish and the Final polish. I wanted to add one of the fine burnishing polishes to the regiment.
 
Hmmmm, my guess would be different answers because of the confusing naming conventions used by Menzerna. The first time I read through your post I wasn't sure if you meant Micro Polish or Micro Polish... (see what I mean?). I bet one answer was based on the comparison of Nano (106ff) and Micro (87MC) and the other was based on a comparison of Nano and Micro (PO85RD - this is labeled as "Micro" on the bottle by Menzerna). Depending on which "Micro" you were referring to, my answer would be different to.

My opinion would be... Get some SIP and PO85RD... second choice would be SIP and Nano... third choice would be SIP and Micro (87MC)

PO85RD (the other Micro) all the way then!
 
Anything is possible with the Menzerma names, but i think i just got conflicting advice. dunno

For jeweling the paint get 85RD or 87MC. 87MC has less cut, I believe it's 1.5 vrs 2 for the 87MC. I was torn between the two, but got 87MC cause I wanted a polish with the least amount of cut for jeweling the paint.
 
i love menzerna polishes. but theres just to many dam polishes its so darn confusing. they have like 4 final polishes. its crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy:D
 
off topic but not really, how come nobody ever, ever, ever recommends the 2 polishes that come with the PC kit??? Those are simply IP and FP (whatever their code names are). It's a bit dissapointing to be honest because everyone says "you should try the menzerna" but then nobody seems to like the stuff that actually comes in the kit. sorry to rant.
 
Ok, I do not want to beat this to death.
But the real question was whether or not my 06 BMW had the hard finish that the Nano polish "PO106FF" is supposed to be used on. All of the info talks about the super hard Mercedes finishes yet, I do not know if the BMW finished are similar. That is what was motivating my decision between Micro # PO87MC and the Nano #PO106FF.

BTW, if you look at the Menzerma chart and the Autogeek Menzerna store there is only one Micro Polish listed and only one Nano polish listed...

Every person in detailing has a different opinion. It is very likely 2 people handled your question and both people have differing views on products. That being said, Menzerna is probably the most confusing line of detailing products. I find it much easier to use the product #s (106ff, 85u, 85rd, etc.) when talking about Menz because the names get redundant and confusing. Nano 106FF will have more bite than 85U or 85RD but the 85U or 85RD will leave a better shine / gloss than the Nano 106ff. I haven't tried the Micro PO87 but I believe that is very similar to the Final Polish that you already have ...

I would get the 85RD if you are looking for the jeweling effect.
 
Basically what happened is, you got different opinions from two different detailers, much like you would on this forum. No two people are going to have the same exact favorite products...for example, I recommended Nano Polish. My Corvette has a pretty hard clearcoat, as does your BMW, and Nano Polish is my Menzerna finishing polish of choice. That is what I prefer so that is what I recommend to my customers. Someone else may have different experiences polishing different paints, and will therefore have different preferences.

It is not much of a surprise, considering Nano Polish and Micro Polish are not THAT different. I just personally felt that Micro Polish would not do as much on your BMW's paint, and Nano Polish would be much more worth your while.

Again, it's a matter of preference. I could understand if one person recommended SIP and one recommended Micro Polish, but in the big picture, Nano and Micro are so similar that it just boils down to a matter of opinion/personal preference.

Open the link to PO85RD and look at the picture of the bottle and you will see that it's label says "Micro Polish PO85RD" The chart doesn't list the name of PO85RD and I suspect that's why, it would be confusing.

And makdaddy626, thanks as well... line is way too confusing and I thought the Germans were soo organized..
 
No problem...one thing to keep in mind is that the Menzerna line is formulated for professional use, on different types of paint. For example, the Ceramiclear polishes, etc etc.

It may seem confusing at first, but once you realize the purpose behind each formula, it tends to make more sense. :cheers:
 
I don't know which vehicle you have, but I use 106ff on my '04 M3 and the paint comes out PERFECT.
