Considering coatings

Saw the new coatings pop up. Think I’d rather go with something with more information available, ie track record. That’s help me know the pros and pitfalls.

With the lite products, what is the durability like? Think I’ve seen six months for some of them. At that point, think I’d rather go with the sealants I have on hand.

With good maintenance expect about a year with CanCoat and around the 12-15 month time frame for CQ Lite. By the way the coatings at Autogeek are not blended by them. They have it blended by a coating manufacturer. I have an idea but I have not been able to confirm who the blender is.

Does Autogeek have SiC? Don’t see it on there.

I have Gliss in the basket. Good choice? I’m assuming if I put SiC over UK the I wouldn’t need it?

Plus SiC is much more durable than Gliss.

So if I want SiC then I have to look at another retailer. Is it worth doing that over getting Gliss now from Autogeek?

Out of respect for the forum's host I don't think anyone will suggest you shop elsewhere.

That being said I'm sure not every member buys every product through Autogeek.

Seems SIC is the superior product. If it's what you want you might need to get it somewhere else.

Any last advice before I hit the buy button on:
Cquk3, Gliss, their sample box, essence extreme, ech20, 6 bald wipes?
Do I need any additional installation equipment? More suede pads?

Many like the Autofiber microfiber thin pads to apply a coating because it doesn’t use as much coating since the inner foam pad is wrapped with plastic so no expensive coating is absorbed and wasted. Of course, like SiC (OOS) discussed above, Autogeek doesn’t carry them.

Otherwise it looks good and enjoy.

Overthink Alarm!

Looking at the price tag of the stuff in the basket, I’m pausing to consider CanCoat or CQuartz Lite. Going to give it an hour or so and research before I make my final decision.

Well, I did it. I chickened out. Ordered CanCoat (and nothing else). Thought it might be an easier intro. It was certainly cheaper - since I had CSUK3, Gliss2, Essence, Ech2o and a lot of bald wipes in the basket. After getting a large microfiber order, a G9, Griots 3in1 ceramic + ceramic speed shine, and a lot of foam pads, spending another couple of hundred bucks on a coating was just too much to swallow.

Question: if it looks like it might rain after application, can I use optiseal to cover it (once it’s past the hour of curing or whatever)?

Should have picked up Gyeon Cure. CanCoat has a 4 hour cure time before it can get wet.

Couldn’t remember exactly but I can keep the east dry for 4 hours at least. I meant to use the optiseal after that if needed. We didn’t get too much rain on the south plains anyway so it might’nt be needed at all.

I’d check with Griots.... send an email but I think you can use 3-1 in Cure’s place to protect the coating

That’s a long time topper for sure. I’m hoping to use as few toppers as possible and ideally none. Wanting to see what the coating will do.

Yeah i don’t think toppers last as long on coatings as they do stand-alone. But be nice to protect your coating for the meantime.... don’t want to end up with water spots

Picked CanCoat because it looked easier to apply than CQUARTZ lite. Was I wrong? Kinda wanted to try the CarPro line but also wanted the easiest go for the first time for the best showing for coatings.

CanCoat is only hard if you don’t follow directions. It is pretty much wipe on with one microfiber towel and wipe off with another, IMMEDIATELY. It is not like a coating where you need to let it flash. If you do try to treat it like a coating, you’ll get one heck of a shoulder work out getting it off, please don’t ask me how I know.

Watched a few videos on it and learned a lot. Also learned not to turn on a big fan while spraying it from another thread. I won’t ask how you know but I have an inkling.
