Michelins are the only reason I keep a bottle of Megs Endurance Gel on my shelf. It’s the only thing I can get to last a respectable 7 days on those tires. And that’s mainly due to it being so goopy which allows it to put up a half decent fight. Lol.

I've had Goodyears, Michelin and Contis on my vehicles.

I strictly buy used tires for my daily driver Cadillac. I’m usually never picky about what they roll out for me and care more about the tread life and the price they want for it... Last time I needed a tire they rolled out a beefy tire and only wanted $30 if I remember correctly... But as soon as I saw that it was a Michelin I said “ahh nah not that tire, I hate Michelins”!

The guy was like “alrighty then, find him another tire” lol.

My Dad's dad was not flashy in anything he did. He was pretty frugal,but he never ran anything but Michelin tires. My Dad inherited the frugal part. He bought a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws for the HHR my Mom used to have. When he bought tires for his truck though he went for Michelins,and bought them from Sears. 800 bucks for 4 245/75/16 tires. Wow. I paid $195 for my 285/30/20 Contis,and saved a ton over the Michelin equivalent. Cannot believe he plunked down that much money. My Mom has a new Terrain that came with factory Michelins also.

It's funny that Michelins stink to detail. I've had BFG tires,and they did fine. Same for the Uniroyals on my Mom's HHR. Made by Michelin no less. One set of BFG tires was the worst for initial cleaning ever. They were practically white when I got them,and it took several hours scrubbing it seemed to clean them.

Stoners More Shine Aerosol has been one of my go to products on tires that refuse to cooperate. The carrier solvent seems to penetrate deep. For really troublesome tires, I still reach for NoTouch, it makes a mess of the driveway but the tires look awesome for a long time.

I find it interesting you have problems with my Michelins. I didn't find them any worse than other tires.

My wife is running a set of Michelin Defender LTX's on her SUV and the Duragloss 253 I use holds up really well on them. However the Michelin Pilot Super Sports I use for summer tires...not so much.

I think every tire is specific and sidewall design seems to play a big part too. The tires I struggle with the most, Continental DWS 06's and the Michelin PSS's (both on my car oddly enough) share a very smooth sidewall design, don't seem to like any dressing I've tried so far. Other Continentals and Michelin's seem to be OK.

The one tire brand I found which seemed to do pretty well with anything I've used on them is Bridgestone/Firestone tires. Very easy to maintain.

I just cleaned some brand new Michelins on an RV this past weekend.. 1st I did a test spot w/Mothers B2B Tire Renew.

10min. later that spot had dried and turned back to how it looked before... Then I tried Mckee’s Tire & Rubber Rejuvenator [spray & hose off] They looked good and lots of brown dirt rinsed off, but once they dried they went back to brown... I hate Michelins. Lol.

Well, I thought I had this problem solved. However, now I'm dealing with another frustrating issue.

My wife hasn't driven the car in the rain for any extended period of time since we've gotten the Continentals. Last weekend my wife drove the car out of town. I was going to wash the car that day,but I knew my wife would've wanted to take her car on a trip. Car had last been washed a couple of weeks prior,and the tires still looked pretty decent after being dressed with PERL. They had been on the aforementioned trip out of town,and the only rain driving would've been short trips.

The next night it rained pretty heavily,and then Tuesday of this week it POURED rain over into Wednesday. I sent my wife to work in my daily since I was off all this week. Wednesday when it finally quit raining I went out,and I noticed the rain had washed ALL the protectant off. Tires were gray and dingy looking. This was from heavy rain just sitting in the driveway.

By the time it quit raining it was too late to wash the car,but I did get after the tires with Mother's Back to Black tire renew. That left the tires looking nice again,and I put a couple of coats of McKees 37 Gloss Gel on to boot. Friday into Saturday it rained even more than it did on Tuesday. Two flooding rains in one week,and again all the protectant got washed right of the Contis......... Tires are ugly again. I have had tires look better after hundred of miles of rain driving. Once again,this happened just sitting in the driveway.

This is truly aggravating. I have worked the protectant into the surface really well,and still this. Do I need to step up to a degreaser,or full strenth APC or something,or what?

It's not the tires it's the product. Get some 303 Tire Balm and see how that does. It's not available here yet but you can find it on Amazon or EBay and it's very cost effective.

Thanks Klasse! I have kicked around buying the Tire Balm,or trying the TW coating that I have. Or Spray Paint! LOL.

Yes,we love the tires. Been awesome for the 6 months we've had them,and we got a great deal on them. They just SUCK to keep looking nice.

Prior to last year,I had practically ZERO experience with anything Continental. We had two different rental cars with Conti tires on them after my wife's wreck, Then, I bought two different serpentine belts for two different vehicles. The belts were both Contis off of Ebay,and now the DWS 06 tires.

The DWS tire is waaaaaay better than any OEM tires you get, no doubt about it. Yeah if you have TW Endura still I'm surprised that wasn't your FIRST choice, after a good cleaning. I've had Conti's on my wife's Mazda 6 for the past 6+ years and never had a tire dressing issue.

Let us know how it works out, 303 Tire Balm is also great!!

It was actually the product that made me move away from tire coatings and go back to dressings. I could spend a lot of time washing/prepping/coating a tire every 3~4 weeks, or I could simply spend less than a minute hitting the same tires with a dressing every time I washed. No-brainer for me.

IME it either works or it doesn’t, but it all depends on the particular tire, and not the fault of the coating. But when it does it’s remarkable.

Agree about TW.

I've even using 303 Tire Balm and wiping weekly with Roger's ECH2O FrankenDetailer, and it's been about 4 weeks with still some satin appearance.

Frankly, I think tire coatings and dressings just don't work for more than a few weeks - especially on daily drivers.

IME the TW Tire Coating performs outstanding. I can trace back to the day I last coated the tires on my daily driver. It was this day I got a flat exactly 4 months ago.

I bought a used tire, prepped it, and coated it along with the other 3 tires.. And besides the tiny bit of dirt from bumping into the curb the other day it's still going strong and looking good today.

All 4 tires on my DD are different...

And they all look good even after 4 months without touching them [other than the occasional spray & rinse w/D114]

I haven't even had any applicators to apply any more of the coating until I finally tried this Tuff Shine applicator for the 1st time on a detail this past weekend.

Well, things that are almost a "sure thing" seem to never work for me. These tires are so finicky I have my doubts even about the TW coating. I won't be dragging out the hose to scrub the tires completely clean for a while now anyway! It won't be much above freezing here for over a week with lows in the teens. Ain't happening! Back in my youngers day maybe,but not now. I see above that the product performance varies with tires brands etc.. just like other products do.

I went out Christmas day in between family gatherings,and I hit the tires with some McKees. I used a microfiber applicator per the instructions for "dirty" tires. They look pretty decent still. This method does leave a more satin finish,and I only put one coat on.

The 303 balm is on my list of stuff to try also.
