Contintental DWS tires and protectant issue....

Has to be a quality control issue with the tires as we've had the original DWS as Well as the current DWS06 without any issues. I had the original DWS' on 2 Hondas in a row without an issue.

It depends on the tires. I've had McKee's coating on my tires for about 4 months now. The biggest factors I have found are the rubber itself, who makes it etc. and how much sidewall it has and how much flex the sidewalk has. My Goidyear run flats have had the coating on for 4 months. Goodyear rubber compound and the side wall is short and next to zero flex. The Michelins on my wife's F-150 it will last about 4-6 weeks. Michelin rubber compound and tall sidewall with lots of flex.
 
I've noticed that with the Michelins as well. Just replaced my Goodyear tires with Primacys, so we'll see come spring.

Well, the last time I washed my wife's car was the 27th of last month. I put on a couple of coats of the McKee's Gloss then,and the tires still have a little bit of shine to them. I guess that's not too bad is it? I wiped the tires off with a damp microfiber,and it made the tires a little bit better. I would say nearly a month on DWS tires is not terrible durability. The look is definitely settled down to a more satin look now,but you can still tell there is a little something on them. It was overcast today as well. The tires might have more of a sheen in sunlight.

I did order some more Tuf Shine tire cleaner so I will scrub the tires down again real good at some point and start over. Also, the "rain forest" has 303 Tire Balm in stock again,and I placed an order for some. Gonna give that a shot also!
 
Let me know how you like 303 Tire Balm. It needs about 15 mins, depending on the temps, to dry. If the tire is completely clean lay down a good base coat and go from there. In most cases, 2-3 coats gets the job done initially.

Yeah,I really like the look of it from pics you and others have posted! Cannot wait to try it. It was pretty warm today,but I just didn't feel good. Couldn't get going. I wanted to wash the car,but felt terrible. The sides of the car are not bad at all,but the top surfaces are nasty from snow and ice sitting on them and them and then melting. Man,that leaves a car so nasty!

The 303 seems to be real steal for the looks and performance!
 
The nice thing about 303 Tire Balm is that it's not tinted, so NO chance of staining the edges of your rims. Also the price is very fair, especially when you consider how much you get. Finally the product dries quickly, meaning adding layers in a pinch isn't an issue. Oh yeah, one more thing, this product is completely made in America, from development, testing, packaging and the product itself

We had a little more sunshine today than yesterday,and the tires did still look good in the light. The McKee's GTG is a really nice product.
 
I thought the 303 would make it here in time for me to able to use it today,but the arrival date got pushed back to the 31st. Hit the tires with some PERL after a scrubbing with Mother's Back to Black Tire Renew. Started raining just as I finished up on the tires.
 
The 303 tire balm is up next. I scrubbed the tires with Tuff Shine tire cleaner several times until white suds came out of them. I applied the last of my McKee's 37 gloss tire gel to the tires. 3 coats on the driver's side vs 2 on the other. You can barely tell there's anything at all on there scarcely a week later. We've had a little rain,the car has been driven in the rain,and we have pollen flying around and probably sticking to the tires as well. I guess that contributed to the issue this time,but still.

These tires really make me want to pull my hair out. I guess the performance of them should come first,and they're great in that aspect.

I cannot stand having dirty looking tires,and especially not after such a short period of time. The tires have been on the car almost a year so they should be outgassed or whatever now for sure.

The Yokohama tires on my beater HHR have become contrary about holding onto protectant regardless of how much you scrub them beforehand as well. They're 4 years old though.
 
So you too have had issues with 303 Tire Balm? If so, I don't get because I haven't had these issues but one time with winter tires and it only happened once

Well,I still haven't used the 303. I bought some Duragloss Wet Look Tire Shine a while back. It works really well in regards to looks and durability when applied with a foam applicator. It's not terribly shiny at all. I will get around to the 303,AND the Turtle Wax tire coating as well.
 
Oh,wife's car has to go to body shop again. Somebody set something on the spoiler of her car like it was a shelf or something, Gouged and scratched the spoiler to crap. I ask my wife to come out and look when I found the scratches,and she sees that someone has backed into the front of her car. Looked like a trailer hitch to us,and the body shop owner said that before we could even ask what he thought had done it. Have not gotten carried away with cleaning her car the last couple of weeks due to that.

People do not give a crap about other folk's stuff anymore.
