3M Door Edge Paint Protection Films

Saw this one in the new product section, that's definitely going in my next order. Although, it will probably wind up sitting in the cabinet for the next 20 years without me ever getting up the gumption to use it. Cool idea though.

Looks like a really cool product. I am a little nervous about the install however.. I have horrible luck installing films onto stuff. Like my phone than has bubbles everywhere :(

I personally hate that stuff and I've removed it on a few cars now. Sure they work for their intended purpose....but let me know how you like it when it comes time to polish the paint, not to mention the build up of dirt on the film edges.

These were custom installed, but product is still that same AFAIK. I removed it from the silver C63 and hand polished them on the IS250....good times!

Edit: I guess for the low cost they can simply be removed and reinstalled when it comes time to correct the paint.

Use my technique then...buy one, heck buy one for every car you have, and every car in your family...then take them all and put them in the closet. No worries about botched installation!

Is that film on the red car? It looks like that vinyl roll door edge guard they try to charge $250 at the highway dealers.

Another reason my technique works so well--by keeping them in the cabinet, no polishing headaches! I'm going to put some in my cart right now.

Yeah, it' film on the red car, but I taped them off so I could polish the paint without damaging them or getting compound in the edge.

I had those door edges not installed on my car just from the stand point that they complicate doing such things as polishing and they are only handy if you are hitting someone elses car with your door. Since I avoid other cars like the plague, seemed kinda pointless to have them in the way.

I am on the fence with this product. First off I do not park my good cars near anyone. I rather walk. and second i somone want tot put a dent in you can it always in the center. I know the door edge Gard tape by 3M is meant to protect you from opening you door too near a blunt object. I ma going to wait till i sees enough good write up to validate its use on my cars.

Yeah, well, I don't make a practice of smashing my door into other people's cars, but I saw these shortly after I chipped the edge of my door on a guard rail after opening it to try to reach the parking ticket when I was taking someone to the emergency room.
