I think if OP follows Bobby's recs on using the bay car wash for rinsing and then do a Rinse-less wash after the heavy stuff is rinsed/washed off the finish will be safe from scratches. The two bucket method is great for an apartment setting, along with a garden/pesticide pump sprayer to coat the paint before starting the initial Rinse-less wash. Doing a section at a time is the safest way to prevent water spots, but as long as the vehicle's not in direct sunlight and the temps are cool, you can do panel-to-panel Rinse-less washing with no issues.
Just to clear things up OP, were you saying that your "washes" normally consist of only rinsing the vehicle several times with out introducing a car shampoo/cleaning agent, then dry with a WW towel?
