Correcting individual panels at a time advice..

What AIO's do you have if any?

At the moment zip, nothing in the all in one category. Although I have tons of Rupes,Meg's,Menzerna polish on hand. Plenty of pads as well, maybe I could get away with the right pad/polish combo for an AIO..

for 14.99 it's worth it.I don't have a product addiction based on hype, but can tell you the stuff is a time saver in one shot.

Yeah I'm going to pick up some, it does so much for so little. Plus I like the company and how they are modernizing how to polish a car.

I use to think AIOs were garbage, I need to rethink what I thought.

Use the HD then top it with a sealant.Dont rely on durability solely with this product.

Edit: after thinking it over I just don't see it being possible as I wanted to completely decontaminate the vehicle with ironx etc. I guess I should just strip down the car, iron X it, and hopefully get to every panel before the summer is over and then seal her up at the very end.

I do vehicles several panels at time all the time. My process is to wash, decontaminate and clay the entire thing then begin that same day. I usually knock out the hood, roof and trunk first.

From there the owner may swing by for 2 maybe 3 panels at a time. Prep for those then really just becomes waterless washing them.

all great advice and he is a pretty good buddy, known him about 10 years now. I don't own any HD products on hand, trying to use stuff I already have on hand.

I know I can get the paint perfect, and I'm most familiar with VW/Audi paint cause it's all really I ever owned it just takes soo damn long.

I don't think some people get how long paint correction can take, even with a modern machine like a Rupes.

HDAdapt and HDSpeed are amazing products. So easy to use and they do a great job.

Speed wise, I blasted through the last minivan in half the time it normally would have taken thanks to my 3401. Time it takes to correct and the fact that I started doing more vehicles is why I bought it. I could kick myself for not buying one years ago. Hindsight even for just my own vehicles makes me wish I had.

I just put two and two together and realized I have spoke to you on vortex a bunch of times over in the detailing forums lol

Over the years...
I've discovered that using the right tool
for a detailing-task-at-hand (like paint
correction) dramatically speeds up that
process. The Rotary is such a tool.

Bob

I was so close to pulling the trigger on my first rotary a few years back. But kept on using the PC and then finally upgraded to Rupes. At this point with such little experience and the technology in the products I wonder if it will ever be worth it for me to properly learn to use a high speed machine?

haha! probably. my screen name is one I use a lot of places and have had it since the mid 90's. :)

I have no problems doing a quick maintence wash every other week for him, but I agree completely he probably just won't care.

I also have never just stripped a sealant from just one panel, I can strip and decon. an entire care but never have isolated just one panel without effected the others. I guess that is my main concern.

But I'm sure it's the same process as say touching up a scratched panel that needs to be machined?

dont worry about "stripping" wax from the panel with a certain soap.. Polishing/compounding will remove whats ever left after wash/clay/iron x/ whatever

Do you have the Rupes UHS?

If you need an AIO locally Meguiar's White Wax works very. It contains the same abrasives as M101. I've used it like a compound on a cutting pad to remove a good amount of defects on a black Ford F-150 and a GMC Savana van. . I topped it with D156. I have write ups on the forum if you search for my name. I picked up white wax for $6 some time ago locally.

I have everything Rupes on hand except UHS products. However I do have plenty M100,M101,M105 and M205 on hand.

205 with a cutting micro can give you exceptional results. But get the speed when you can.
