Cost to Restore 1980 Tran Am?

My father-in-law said last year a guy was going to pay 5k for the car to restore it after he had it checked out???

I've heard that line before  matter of fact, I'ved used that line before :o

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and have a little knowledge, you can cut that 30k down to 6k. How is the drive train? I can only assume terrible

LOL we did all but 5k of that camaro on our own, there is no way a car can be restored for 6k

thats what i thought...i dont have anywhere to store her either for long term fix

Just numbers like 30k is crazy to a recently married couple still living in an apartment with fresh student loans to pay.

Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

Hey.....if it has the 301 Turbo under the rusty hood, send it my way!!!

Dynacorn bodies sound pretty economical after hearing some of these figures.

LOL!! A true classic...

You might want to check out nastyZ28.com

Even though you have a Trans Am, this site will still be a lot of help for you.

I beg to differ 4 sure. 6k would be stretching every dollar, asking a few favors, and a few hundred hours, but yes, I could restore that Trans Am and have it looking and running better then 98% of the so-called showcars you see at Sonic on Thursday nights

LOL I sure would hate to see the end results of a car that was "restored" for 6k. I'm not talking about some back yard hack job, I am talking about properly restoring a car.

i dont have the contacts to be asking for such "favors" haha

Anything I build, would make yours look like dog piss. Sorry to hear you don't have the connections and/or abilitys that I do in this matter ;)

Easy fellas no need to find out who has the well you know...

I will hopefully tackle this project within the next couple years:)

Unless you have a ton of disposable income or the car has a lot of sentimental value, it may be wise to think about your project car and what you want out of it. That's not to say that you don't have either of the above, and haven't thought it out, but even with $30k invested, you'll still end up with a 1980 Trans Am.

I'm sorry, someone had to say it!

LOL you just keep thinking that. Click on the garage thread in my sig and tell me those Camaros look like dog piss... I'm sure they look better then any 6K "restored" piece of crap you ever built

Whatever Dwayne  I'm not going to waste my time arguing this with you. I know what I'm capable of and you don't ;)

I won't be responding to this thread again, so if you make another post, that doesn't mean you win
