Is it normal to get generate a ton of static while wiping off sealant?

Also, I polished my hood last weekend and applied sealant as a last step and it felt really slick. I washed the car today and polished one side of the car and then applied a sealant and noticed that the hood is no longer as slick as it was. Is it normal to lose the slickness so fast?

With the right conditions static electricity can be generated.

As to the slickness factor decreasing this is normal as well. I cannot comment as to why it happened in one week's time since you didn't mention specifics; such as products used during polishing and sealing.

I used ultimate compound followed by ultimate polish and topped with blackfire wet diamond. I used a quick detailer once and washed the car once during that week. Is that enough to kill the slickness? If the slickness is gone is the protection still there?

Slickness will be noticeable gone after a couple of washing. If it's still beading after a wash, the protection is still there. Did you do an IPA wipe down after polishing? If you did not, then the Blackfire is bonding to the oils in the polish and will soon wash off.

I did not do an ipa wipedown after polishing. I do have griots pre-wax cleaner but sadly failed to use it before adding the sealant. What's my best option now? Am I going to have to strip the sealant off and then use the pre-wax cleaner or will the cleaner help strip the sealant too? I'm looking for some decent protection before hitting winter.

Use the Griot's cleaner and 2 coats of Blackfire 12 hours apart. As much as I like Blackfire, I don't think it's durable enough to make it through the winter without topping. For winter protection you might want to look into Finish Kare, Duragloss, Collinite or any of the newer coatings.:buffing:

Collinite waxes are great for winter. I used Werkstat Prime and Acrylic Jett Trigger over one winter and they worked well too.

So just spray the griots on the existing sealant or do so some sort of stripping of the sealant first?

The Griot will strip the existing sealant.

Sounds good, I'll give it a try. Thanks!
