I did a customers Porsche around mid 2015. He had bought it second hand for his dad and the paint was in horrible condition. The brake dust on the wheels were so bad we ended up Plastidipping the wheels for him as no amount of washing, claying or scrubbing was removing it. The previous owner really did not care for the car. The car had many scratches and swirls from lack of proper washing so we started with a foam bath followed by 2 bucket hand wash and clay. Entire car was polished using Megs ultimate polish and on Megs G220V and CG Green Hex Logic Pad. We were able to get about 80% of the defects out and restore the luster of the Porsche's Red paint.

I used CQuartz Coating for this car and was the first drip application coating I had used. Honestly I don't really like this method as I feel like I don't get enough material on the applicator and it's not uniform when applying on to the paint. I also experienced some areas that had high spots that I couldn't buff out and ended up having to polish back out and reapply. Of course I do attribute this to my noobness at drip application style coatings but I still favor the spray type.

Aside from the high spots, the finished results using this coating is very impressive though I've since noticed new scratches on the hood when the customer last came to see me. Hopefully this scratch is only on the surface of the coating.

After a couple cars you will get on point.I just use the suede cloth with out the applicator foam little block.

I tried the seude without the block and found it even more difficult to apply as there wasn't something for stable grip to, sometimes the suede would catch while I was applying so I went back to using the block as a handle. I'm sure over time I would get used to applying this type of coating. Just my persona preference the spray types are easier to manage and quicker.

Which one did you apply? Classic or UK? Both are great products, but they have a learning curve. I assume by CQuartz you were using one of the two.

HUMP

What coatings have you applied where the recommended application is to be sprayed on?

Took me about 5 cars to get CQ UK down to a science, there is a learning curve with all coatings.

I used the regular Cquartz, though I would assume both flash in the same way? I'll give it another go and I'm sure it's true, it'll take a few cars before I have it down.

RaskyR1- CG second skin 6 and PBL both use spray application methods.

.

CQUK & Regular CQ flash at different rates. The formulas are designed for different temps & humidity. I find Regular CQ is more forgiving.

It took me a little while to get the technique down, but once you get it the finish is awesome.

I thought you meant spray, as in air brush/paint gun. ;)

you have to fold the cloth in 4 parts for you to have a nice hand control.
