CQuartz Finest...Oh Yeah,it's like glossy glass!

Thank you for your feed back Chris.I would of thought Power Finish and the Green polishing pad would of did something to the OG after several section passes, considering the OG is .00004"/.00008" thick?
When I sprayed the Eraser after polishing,I sprayed the panel with mineral free water (I use from my dehumidifier) it did not run from the paint like the normal OG water shedding characteristic's?
That being said, when I applied the CQF it behaved/hazed/cured as it should have (did my research and also talked&emailed to my CarPro-US rep).
But for all fairness I will do another panel(s)again but also do a strip wash with IronX Snow Foam or Citrus Wash after wiping down with Eraser and if I'm confident there is no more OG left,I'll recoat again with CQF.
Thank You again for your input so I can do a fair test Chris :xyxthumbs:

You're very welcome! And I'm glad you saw my post as feedback which was my intent. It does sound as if you prepped the surface well, so you may very well have removed the OG. I certainly couldn't say definitively from TN, right?:dblthumb2:

I've been able to temporarily kill the beading of OG with Power Clean only to see it return after another wash, so if you can get it to the point that it only sheets with no beading, you've probably gotten it all off. I look forward to your review, but I'm sure it'll be a long one with Finest having a two year warranty, I wouldn't expect it to fall off any time soon...so be sure to remember to update ever so often.

I have a feeling the coating market is only going to get better and better.
Please share your thoughts when you do your test, look forward to hearing :)

I couldn't agree more, these are fantastic times to be a detailer. :buffing:

Why would it be fantastic for the detailer, I may not see my customer for 2+ years.. isn't it a fantastic time for the consumer?

Personally I would've thought this very thing, but it's actually allowed me to upsell correction work a lot more then pre these types of coatings.

If you upsell to OC/OG would you tell your customer that they are protected forever?

I would give it 90 days just to be sure that it's fully hardened. Also, keep in mind that Opti Coat 2.0 (consumer) is not as concentrated as Opti Guard (pro) so it will be easier to remove...so don't go too crazy polishing. Just to add a slick feel you'd only need a couple passes with a finishing pad.

Thanks Chris. Good info as usual.

I tell them it's a permanent bond, that can only be abraded off. After about a year they still come back for a detail since their interiors are jacked, and most of my coating customers are also maintenance customers. Of course this means I can't upsell them in the future with wax jobs but maintaining cars to a high standard leads to future business and customer retention with higher tips because in their minds I'm taking great care of them.

Good analogy.

I'm happy to have tools like the tornador, Opti bond applicator, speedy prep towel, Opti Seal, Optimum Car Wax, fast cutting compounds, microfiber pads, etc that make my job easier and faster.

The coatings haven't cost me any business, because I warranty the application and require that they bring it in twice a year for inspection (basic detail). I'm doing more of the easier tasks than paint reconditioning and that's much easier on my body. I still get to do the big jobs before the coatings...I'm just not cutting more and more clear off these cars without replacing it anymore.

Personally I would've thought this very thing, but it's actually allowed me to upsell correction work a lot more then pre these types of coatings.

Exactly, and it's a huge upsale considering that you have the ability to add thickness back with Optimum coatings. Next time you need to polish, you'll be cutting into the coating instead of deeper into the clear. It really is doing your customer a huge service by applying a coating.

If you upsell to OC/OG would you tell your customer that they are protected forever?

I think that'd be misleading. I would word it so that they know they don't have to apply waxes or sealants anymore...but that it's not a forcefield and will still need regular cleaning and sometimes light claying/decon. I'd also make sure to tell them to maintain good wash habits and not use the coating as an excuse to cut corners or use machine washes.

Thanks Chris. Good info as usual.

You're welcome.

Chris, I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on you thread buddy, been too busy to do a full write up, but wanted to share...

I had a chance to play around with this stuff this weekend (all I can say is WOW)!! The gloss is amazing!! Application and removal was a breeze. My customer was EXTREMELY happy with the added gloss and very excited about the 2 year warranty! I'm sure I'll be selling a lot more of these jobs in the future. I believe the 2 year warranty along with the serial # registration is a huge selling point, GREAT job CarPro! (The first vehicle is a clients, the second is mine)...

First these were removed (by polishing with d300/HT cyan, followed by m205/HT Tang)...

Note the DISO, this is a brand new car (pretty much straight from the dealer to me).

Chris, excellent work as always! It is indeed an extremely glossy finish and very hard coat as well. It certainly doesn't hurt that you have the mad polishing skills  but the glass does add something extra in my view. When my wife came intO the garage after I completed one of my test panels she asked me "what did you do! it's a different color!" The fact it hardens fast helps to provide the qualities a coating should before the time it needs it's first wash.

Tad, it's great to see your first Finest job buddy!! Amazing work and as always your tremendous skills are on full display! I dig that blue now that I've seen it in person! Always a treat to see the most beautiful pony in the world also!!

Sounds like a fantastic product!

I had the opportunity to give this pony a bath this morning and check the CQ Finest. (Whenever I apply a coating I always include the first wash in the package so I can check it). WOW, the sheeting was absolutely awesome! Talk about hydrophobic!! After rinsing the car, there was hardly any water at all left to blow off, and the gloss is incredible!

I experienced absolutely the same as you Tad :props:

Does that Mustang not look like glass or what!

Ok,an update.

Me and Robin drove down to the Renaissance Fair for the weekend, which is a 400+mile round trip.
Returning this evening,I broke out the power washer to do a quick rinse down. Before rinsing down, I pulled my SRT into the garage.I noticed that the CQF part of the vehicle (I polished almost all of the OG off except half the rear trunk/fender and the drivers side quarter panel only) stayed dirt/dust cleaner than the OG side.It almost seemed as if the CQF has anti-static/dust properties to it....I was like HUH?
I power sprayed the entire vehicle down and did a final rinse with my CR Spotless and then pulled the vehicle into the garage.
It seem's if the CQF parts of the vehicle cleaned with ease better,as if less dirt/debris clung to any panel over the parts that still had OG applied.I know my eye's were not playing tricks on me because the passenger side rear and front quarter was noticeably cleaner where CQF was applied

Mind you this was just a spray down and rinse with my CR Spotless before a wash tomorrow, but I was very impressed at what I witnessed.

These coatings are just getting better and better :)

Looks great :dblthumb2:

Are there any more updates?
Can someone post a pic with the water sheeting off?
AND....can someone please sell me a bottle of this stuff?

I currently have OC-2 on my bimmer, and I love the sheeting, but I'd like to see what CQF will do in person. I love the Carpro products (i.e. IronX/eraser) and I can only assume the CQF will be just as great.

Updates please!!

I just finished a weekend correction/protection using CQF on a Pontiac G8 and the customer was thrilled at the results.(if I get around to it later today I'll post the pic's).
The water sheeting on my DD has no signs of letting up but of coarse it's only been on the vehicle for a few months.
A vehicle that has CQF applied is very easy to maintain cleaning wise and the anti-marring effect does seem to be valid.

Have you tried putting wax on top of the CQF? If so, how long has it lasted for you?

I'm about to use Wolf's Chemicals Shine and Seal + Hard Body and I'm concerned that I'll have a whole lot of wax that will go to waste...
