Hey, everyone, I currently have Pure EVO topped with Cancoat, and I am thinking about polishing again and doing something different.

I have been reading about Cquartz products, and it seems like UK topped with SiC is the way to go.

Would I notice any difference visually, or any other measure over what I have, or am I just splitting hairs at this point?

Also, on the carpro website, I can order a 10mL bottle of each for $20, and each says 10ml is about 1 coat. I have enough other ceramics on hand, so I can do the roof or front bumper last and use cancoat if I run out. Does 10mL of each get me pretty close? No point of two coats of either since it is two total, right?

Any other thoughts? I was looking at Gliss as well, but it seems most agree SiC is the better topper.

Unless it was you who brought this up before, I'm intrigued why this seems to be a thing from CarPro, that SiC is the topper. If I'm not mistaken, the Opti-Coat products are SiC, and although have more chemical resistance and durability, they have have less slickness and hydrophobicity, so I thought the current Opti-Coat systems were multi-layer with an SiC base and an SiO2 topcoat to provide better slickness and water beading.

Where it seems CarPro is promoting the opposite.

I would hope your vehicle is an extremely small 2-Door. For me a 30ml bottle is really for 1 solid coat.

Contrary to many people; I believe and have tested that the more coating we get on the surface the better the durability. Spreading 10ml all over the SqFt of paint is basically a non-existent layer. I know many want a single layer coating but I think if I'm going through all the prep process I'm going to do it right and get my best results.

I am pretty sure that SiO2 is not as slick as SiC and Polysilazane products like Mohs. I have used Cancoat and Gyeon Pure, which are both SiO2 and not slick.

CQUK is a good coating and more durable than Pure from my experience using both. I've used CQUK many times for years and easily got three years out of one coat with no need for something like SiC or any other consistent topper application.

The 10ml is really not much more than a sample. If I didn't have any leftover coating laying around, that was the bottle I'd buy to coat my wheels. Typically I'd use about 15ml for a mid-sized car like a BMW 3/4 series. I used about 20~25ml on a Dodge Charger. I'd use at least 30ml if not closer to 40 on a mid-sized SUV like a 2012 Toyota Highlander.

Seems you got good advice but do note CarPro toppers tend to have a darkening effect. I definitely noticed this when I applied Gliss and did some spot polishing later on. You could tell in the right sunlight that there was a darker coating all around the polished spots. (This was Gliss on top of another brand of coating.)

Be aware of this with Gliss and possibly Sic. Like you, I like to play around and was a bit disappointed when I did some later spot polishing and saw the color difference. As a top coat, I did all painted panels with Gliss using the 30ml and still have 50% of it or more left. I used the 10ml Sic on the hood only and don't recall if I finished the bottle that day in other areas or still have it around here anywhere...

10 ml is not enough to do much other than coating wheels. It is a popular combo from CarPro. The reason people choose SiC is due to only needing 1 hour to apply of CQUK rather than 4 hours with Gliss. SiC is also more durable as it is an actual coating where Gliss is a top coat. The new Gliss is pretty nice though.
