hey folks, im coating a car with CQUK, im waiting 1 min 30 sec before buffing it off its only about 15 celcius in my garage. not too grabby not too oily. when buffing off i'm using a first buff off suede towel, then i follow up with another fresh suede towel, followed with a slogger towel. look all good untill i use my LED flashlight of my phone. it looks smeary and streaky. Will this cure overtime ? cus the streaks just move around if i buff

thanks

Possible you are not waiting long enough before wiping? When I did my UK, I waited longer. If I remember correctly, I waited more than 5 min.

You're not waiting long enough, smearing means too soon and grabby is too late. Do a test spot with different removal times before you do the whole car

Thanks waiting 4 minutes left almost no streaks, also very gentle buffing with a boa fixed the first smears i made. Is reload a must after a coating or can i apply a sealant aswell?

With UK I generally wait 5 minutes before wipe off and theres no smearing. I use Reload diluted 1:1 an hour after wipe off.

I would stick with an SIO2 product which CQuartz and Reload are.

Reload is recommended to protect cquartz while it is curing over the next few days. Stick with reload.

Good advice here. I would consider reapplying to those areas where you wipe off after 1 min. There may not be much product remaining. 15C is right in the temp zone for Cquartz UK and I've had good results with it around that temp.

I would not apply anything after uk. Reload is quite frankly a subpar product compared to what's underneath. I would suggest just letting it cure and bake it in the sun as often as you can.

I will expand more on my comment. But I believe it is recommended to apply reload if the vehicle is going to be exposed to rain during the curing time over the week to avoid water spotting on the actual coating itself.

Reload is the perfect companion to any CarPro coating. Used often enough it will continuously enhance the gloss, slickness, and scratch resistance of the surface. As others have stated it also serves as an extra layer of sacrificial protection while the ceramic layers finish curing.

Not trying to speak for Will, but his experience is one that reload changes the actual behavior of cquartz and UK. It takes on its own and is not as effective as the coating itself.

Yes reload still beads and sheds water but it is different than straight untopped coating

I️ didn’t really think 2017 cquartz had the spotting problems. But UK sure can still. Which is why some are doing UK as the base Cquartz as the top coat

Cquartz classic on UK looks great. I have it on my hood, however I will be polishing it off. UK I've found is the best coating so far out of the car pro line for durability and resistance. In terms of water spots, I would just have a large bottle of distilled water. If there's rain on the car I'll pour distilled water over the car so it dries with no spots. To me reload is probably the worst thing to put on top of it. The hydrophobic of UK is incredible, 110 degree contact angle. Reload is around 90 I believe.. which to me is pointless.

I’m gona side track alittle here. I’ve tried topping UK with Classic on a few paints and to my eyes UK alone offers more depth of gloss.

UK darkens the paint a little bit, which on certain colours provides more gloss.

Another thing to not use over cquartz or any other coating is Essence Plus. That is if someone likes the hydrophobic properties of their coating.

Ech20 (1:20 detail spray) is about the only thing I really like on any coating without affecting the coatings performance that much.
