I tried something I knew I shouldn't have, applying Cquartz! My luck with stuff like this just isn't that good and I knew better. Well now I have a sap looking splotchy substance all over my roof and quarter panels and I need to get it off.
I am just wondering how aggressive I need to go to get it off?
I want to go as least aggressive as I need to. This paint is so soft even my good Cobra Super plush purple MF's were scratching the paint as I tried to remove polish. I tried many different towels and the only one I had that didn't scratch very bad was the Cobra green ones.
I polished with a Hydrotech tangerine pad and Megs UP and it left micro marring all over so I went back over with a crimson pad and UP and got rid of most of it.
I am so frustrated right now! I just want to get the CQUK off as gently as I can and throw a couple of coats of Fuzion on it and never look at it again within 50 feet!
Oh yea, it's a 2014 Scion FR-S, Raven Black.

Could the "sap-like splotchy" substance be the CQUK itself not being removed completely? I know I had that problem when I applied CQ to my car and it was a PITA to remove. It was super sticky when I was trying to remove it and I started to search if anyone else had this problem and some people have. Fortunately I was able to remove all of it and I confirmed with Corey that CQ is in fact on the paint and I proved it by trying to sheet water off the car.

Yes the substance is the CQUK. Same problem, it wouldn't buff off. Some places did buff off and they look great but other places wouldn't come off.

How do I contact Corey? I looked at the Carpro website and there isn't a USA phone number.

Thanks guys! I guess I was looking at the wrong website.

Chris, the problem I had was wiping it off. Some places it came off just fine but others it just stuck. My MF stuck to it and like smeared it. It just wouldn't buff off.

once you get the car corrected again, try opti-coat. it's foolproof. SO easy to use. forget about the fuzion. all the work required to get it back to perfection, you want something long lasting on top.

You are either using to much product or you are not working it in long enough to the point of almost flashing occurs. The areas that are like smearing as you describe are to thick with product. I use the big suede microfiber to buff of the coating.

Thanks Chris. When you work it in do you let it sit after to flash before wiping or wipe immediately? I didn't get the big suedes with my kit, just the small ones and some Cobra green MF's so I was using the MF's to buff.

I usually wait about 30 seconds and wipe, but I live in Florida and the temperature is usually on the warm side. What color is your car?

My car is black. I'm in the Savannah area and it was in the upper 80's today. I think I might have messed up and got the directions confused, I think I was reading about CQuartz and not the CQUK. I let it sit to flash for 20 minutes before wiping it off. There aren't very many threads on here about CQUK so I think I was reading about the regular CQ.
Do you think a Hydrotech crimson pad with Megs UP will be enough to take it off or should I go more aggressive? I do have some CCS white and orange pads and Megs UC. I also have Carpro Reflect but I tried using it and it was so greasy trying to wipe it off is when I was getting scratches from my MF's so I switched to UP because it wipes off so much easier.
This car had some light swirls I wanted to get rid of and I thought the Reflect would be enough but then it started scratching and now it's a mess.
I thought my Honda S2000 black paint was soft but this thing is like warm butter.

20 minutes yeah that is to long for CQUK. The Meguairs polish should be fine and the pad also, but just do a test spot and make sure it is removed before doing the whole car. If the paint is as soft as you say you should be good with those products. Sorry to hear that.

Thank You for all the advice Chris!
I don't think I'm going to give up on the CQUK just yet. I'm going to slow down and work smaller areas using your advice and see how it goes. I have a 3 day weekend coming up and though I had other plans I think this is more important right now!
Thanks again and if anyone else has some more advice I am willing to listen!

No problem, give Corey a call tomorrow and talk to him anyway, he might be able to help you a little more, as he knows exactly what each product does does to it's fullest extent.

Sounds like you may have used way too much product, and let it sit way to long. Thin is in with coatings. The less you can use the better off you are. I will usually work one panel (half the hood). Then I will work a second panel and go back and wipe over the previous panel. So at most it sits on the panel for a few minutes.

I think Chris hit right on the head. CQUK was my first coating and it came out pretty nice. I did have to polish it off on one quarter due to dark streaks on my red paint. I would really try to use the suede micros for buffing it after applying. They really seem to work the best for this stuff.

Hi
you waited too long time for curing.
CQUK react fast , and in high temp above 20deg.C even faster.
the best way to know before doing whole car is to test on small area.:
once applied wait few min. test it with your finger , if it feels oily wait another min. and test again. it should feel slightly tacky , sticky feeling.
once it does start wiping it off immediately .

always work with CQUK panel by panel, dont do the whole car!

each panel dispense more liquid on the suede wrapped applicator
its better the apply thick coat on the surface! thicker it will dry slower, thinner it will flash fast!

make sure to flip the MF you use for wipe off not to smear the paint with the residue attached to the used MF.

always check out your paint with good light after wipe off, not to miss any spots. best would be with sun light

the haze you have now you can try to remove it with neat APC solution , before using polishing.

this application is good for cquartz and cquk , only with cquartz it will take longer to cure.
