CQUK vs Duragloss vs DP vs Opti-Coat comparison

I know it may be subjective, but I'd like to see some pictures for better illustration of the test.

Some 'schematic', etc, again, just to illustrate better what's going on and making it easier for us to follow.

Looking forward to see updates on this one.

Kind Regards.

I have DGNCC on my car as well as my buddy Hectour's 14' Mazda 3 sedan. His car is outside 24/7, gets washed about once a week, so his will be a much better test than mine will be!

My wife's car has DPPC applied to it, 2x's and is garage kept and maybe washed once a week (touch-free), rinseless when I can do it, so again, a good "real world" test on a real car! I did apply the DP paint prep before hand as well.

My own car had the DGNCC applied in barely 60 degree weather 2x's, then topped with AW, so my results are jaded but I will report here on all 3. That said, I plan on applying a 3rd coat now that the real warm weather is here....finally!

I can report that after applying 2x's DPPC and all this pollen that the coating made doiing the rinseless wash very easy but even with pre-soaking first I could actually hear the pollen being removed from the car!

Check out the thread on the pinnacle "coating" test....its beginning to sound more and more that there are coatings.....and then there are "coatings"....none of which have to meet any industry standard (which don't exist).

I think perhaps its time we take notice that coatings are not created equal and because they don't have to meet any standards, its buyer beware and its up to us to sort it all out and separate the wheat from the chaff.

Update:

So far on the roof all four coatings are holding up well. The first pic is during a light rain. Duragloss is the driver's front, OC 2.0 is the driver's rear, CQUK passenger's front, and Detailer's Pro is passenger's rear. If you look in the second pic (it's very hard to get a picture of this) you'll notice the OC 2.0 and CQUK are virtually dust free compared to Duragloss and Detailer's Pro. This has happened consistently.

Hosing the coatings show slightly stronger performance from CQUK and OC 2.0.

Now for the second interesting part. The roof prep was intense and there have been no bonding issues. The rest of the car was prepped with just Duragloss squeaky clean and in some areas the coating failed. A quick clean of these areas with IPA and Eraser before another Duragloss application has fixed these issues. So in my experience the prep polish alone was not enough. FWIW, my wife's car is a factory single stage Milano red. I'm not sure if the paint is porous or what, but I had OC 2.0 fail in the past on it. With superior prep no issues.

Ease of applicaiton
1) Duragloss
2) Detailer's Pro (flashes fast)
3) CQUK (I'd almost make this a two since you can simply buff the whole panel after 1-5 minutes and do the second coat within 1 hr as opposed to 24 hours)
4) OC 2.0 (I don't care for having to look intently for high spots and having to be careful not to overbuff-plus it's very tacky during cure) Note:4th place does not mean it was difficult

So which did I choose for my new 2014 Silverado and my mother's new Buick Verano?

CQUK!
Reasoning:

1) Less dust buildup
2) Easy application and ability to buff the entire panel made less worry about high spots
3) 1 hour recoat, ability to layer
4) Specific manufacturer-made booster products like Reload and prep products
5) Better performance than the nano sealants
6) Looks better than opti-coat
7) Great support from Corey

I'm going to continue this test on my wife's car and update it as things go on. FWIW I used the leftover OC 2.0 on my wheels and the leftover Detailer's coating on things like headlights and taillights.

I've since used Dlux on my trim and plastic and have fallen in love. :props:

Question for the OP - how was the squeaky clean applied? Was it used on a DA, or was it used by hand? I suspect that the work time of the product is what determines the ultimate success or failure.
