So, I was driving to work and finally out of the blue decided a deserved to buy myself a CR Spotless on my IPhone. So, that's just what I did. I bought it directly from CR, its a model they don't sell at AG

I picked that model because I didn't plan on rolling it around or mounting it on a wall, but using it primarily between the hose and the pressure washer. Based on the TDS of the water at my home (about 200 ppm) I should get about 100 gallons of DI water from each "batch" of resin.

So, I'm thinking if I can get 10 washes out of each "batch", that's $4.5 a wash, or 10 gallons of DI water per wash. That sounds like a lot, but that's less than what it costs me to use the pay-n-spray when the sun is out (bays have shade their). I also figured 10 gallons of DI water is 7.5 strait minutes of spraying with my pressure washer (1.3 gpm).

Budgeting for 7.5 mins of spray time a wash, I'm plan morning on using it only for the final rinse, although I'm convinced some glass water spots occur on my SUV actually during the wash, as I dry the glass first.

But, mainly why I bought this thing was to be able to foam and pre-pressure wash prior to doing a rinseless wash during the summer days. The process would be:

1. Clean wheels, wells, running boards, and mud flaps using regular water first not getting the car wet.

2. Foam car with regular water and soap using a pressure washer

3. Rinse off foam with regular water, then switch to DI water for several minutes to flush off all the regular water.

4. Do a rinseless wash (DI water) outside in the summer and not have to worry about water spots from the previous rinse-off.

Does anyone who has one of these things use it like this? How does it work out? Any tips or tricks anyone want to share on how to use it or extend the resin?

TIA!

If you can use filtered water instead of regular tap water it'll extend your resin life by reducing some of the TDS.

i absolutely love mine, dont know how I could ever survive with my black car without this unit.

I fill my wash and rinse bucket (not wheel bucket) with the CR.

Wash my wheels and rinse thoroughly with the hose. (since I use a ton of water making sure I rinsed all the wheel cleaner as well as cleaning my wheel wells with high pressure.

I then go right into foaming and rinsing with the regular hose (pressure washer). After than I do a final rinse down thoroughly with the CR Spotless, so I can then take my sweet time washing sections of the car and I dont have to worry so much about the sun. Then a final rinse with the cr spotless and thats it.

So yes, it looks like I use it pretty much exactly how you plan to.

Awesome. Thanks for your input. I have figured out how to 2BM wash my black car in the sun without any water spots, but its a PIA. However, mainly I would like to foam and rinse it, and do a rinseless wash in the sun and not have to worry about water spots. I'm glad to here it works.

A member here (thanks OldSalt !!!) sent me a video link on how to recharge the DI resin using muriatric acid and lye. I'm wondering how many times that can be done.
