crazy oil prices - what are you paying for gas???

The WSJ has an interesting weekly column where they compared what a certain product costs around the world. This week it was a Pizza Hut large pizza, everything on it.

It was almost 13 pounds, which is 26 dollars. But that only applies when you're paying with dollars, then it's expensive.

It's not fair to translate everything into dollars because that would give you a very infair comparison. You have to look at the physical quantity of "x" money that you're making versus how much each product costs in "x".

You can make 50,000 pounds in the UK, which is over 100,000 dollars. So your pizza might be 12 pounds or 24 dollars, same thing.

Exactly that's why I indicated that the Hungarian average monthly income is 650 dollars... And it still costs US$120 to fill up my Camry (70 liters/18.5 gal.) with regular gas, and 132 with premium.

Are a lot of people in your country moving to Western Europe? Seems like everyone from out East is looking for a bettere future in the West...

Yes, but from the former eastern block countries Poland leads the list; in the meantime more than 2.000.000 Polish people wandered out to the UK, Canada, etc. But also the Czech people are in the wave...

I don't like to say bad words, but I'm paying to dam much! Sorry...Tried that Flex fuel (E85) stuff and it drop my MPG by 8. What kind of junk is that stuff.

E85 is junk. All that BS about using corn for fuel - it's not worth it. Corn is to make popcorn!:D

That is becuse the etanol will not combuste when the engine is cold, only the gasoline ignites, and the engine requiers 15% more etanol than gasoline to run. Allthoug etanol have higer octan rating than gasoline, so you will actually get more power (if you have automatic adjustable ignition with knocksensor, or you can run higher boost whitout knocking)

Well guys; a lot of you people are gonna hate me for telling you what you pay over here for gas. But here we go.
US$0.17 per gallon

I Fill My Mazda 3 with only US$2.50 aprox.

that's like 3.70 in British pounds, right? But then you make tiwce as much on average in U.S. dollars, so it's pretty much the same thing.

I guess it depends where you are from in England, i'm from northern england, there's a big north south divide in england with wages but the petrol price is more or less constant nationally

In Marlborough, Massachusetts...
$3.05 for regular unleaded
$3.15 for mid grade
$3.25 for premium
$3.39 for diesel
