First Off I'm just getting around to posting this up (my appologies). I did this work truck 2 weeks ago with no machines 100% by hand. It took me a little over 15 hours and was horrible. The pics don't show how bad the truck really was.
Truck was used for 7 years never having the interior cleaned. It served as a work truck for tree trimmers. Held all their equipment. Chainsaws,Gas,Oil, and everything else under the sun. They were always dirty and the dirt and oils were embedded into the leather and carpets. I split it into 2 days heres some pics. Owner was very pleased and doubled my bid along with a nice tip. Onto the pics.:checkit:
I also have a local detailing warehouse called Dsi and they sell the auto magic brand. So I used 2 different apc's from them aswell.
For tools I Used 2 stiff brushes (auto magic brand) , 1 medium brush and AG interior brush with the plastic top handle.LOTS of MF towels.
Ridgid shop vac
I used the blotting technique for drying all the interior out. LOTS of elbow grease on it I used some of the auto magic chemicals at 1:1 and had to keep going back after blotting it dry only picking a little up at a time.
As far as black plastics and rubber I used megs tire & trim gel with an applicator and a sponge cut in half too apply it.
Good thing is I no longer have too use as much elbow grease. I was able to purchase a mytee steamer that arrived yesterday (along with a bunch of other goodies) and I would have used it today...But its raining. So tomo I will be able to test some things .
I have however cleaned and used some new wax on household stuff just too get a feel and I can tell already steam is going to save me lots of time. We all had to start somewhere..When I decided this is what I wanted too do for a living I had no capital yet lots of knowledge from a year of reading this forum before ever really posting anything. Because of this site and its community I have learned so much (even with the little tools) I had to start with. I had the right process and people were amazed at the results and its just starting to get out there (weather changed) And I think its going to be alright. I keep putting almost every dime I make/have into this while my wife holds down the household as she very much would like to see this take off as well.
So thank you too the AGO community because I would have never figured any of this out on my own and its because of you that even me (the small dog) can get great results by just reading reading and did I mention READING lol. I look upto alot of you and one day hope I too can walk into my detail area and see shelves full of tools that I can explain in a heartbeat to clients. And further more I love the expressions when the pick up their vehicles . Makes a man feel great how much praise you get from your work and clients wanting to know the steps you used to get it that way. Sorry about the long winded post just expressing how great it feels to feel appreciated with the work.
The owner of this truck was so amazed and didn't expect nothing to be able to fix his carpet (his main concern) and definitely from someone without an extractor (as he said). So when I explained I would one day get there and my situation with a car wreck that took me out of work and how I was trying everything in my power to get it going. He felt the need for double my asking price and a great tip to help that push because he said someone like me should be doing this for a living. It's a great feeling
