Croc Hunter Steve Irwin killed when he was atop a stingray filming an ocean expedition on stingrays . A few years back i use to watch all the episodes he would crack me up and was full of energy,I'm r sorry to hear this happen. To be honest i though one day his death would be in the news not for stinrays but r being killed by a croc.

Well I have to admit, I am not surprised but definately sad for his wife and two kids. :(

Huge loss for australia and everyone who loved watching his shows. I know I enjoyed watching him do his thing.

He got killed by a Stingray? edit - just found, the Stingray slammed its barb through his chest causing cariac arrest.

His wife is hiking in Tazmania....she won't even know till tomorrow is what CNN said.
He was awesome.
He gave every bit of money his movie made (and yes, it made money) to his zoo and to foundations. If everyone was dedicated to their job as he was, the world be so much better. He may have seemed crazy to us, but there is a greater chance of getting killed in a car than by a croc.
He will be missed world wide.

RIP

and it goes to show that you should live every minute as if it were the last, freak things happen. and we have absolutely no control over those moments.

what he did with with the crocs was crazy to some may have seemed crazy but he followed his dad footsteps, he was born and raised in that enviroment. I think he didnt have this same exp when he decided to travel deep in the waters,IMHO he was out of his enviroment. Justin i didn't know his wife wasn't aware yet ..

Through his chest and directly into his heart, the barbs are poisonous..

Amazing.. he does all this crazy sh*t with crocs that we could never do... and he dies doing something most people do on vacations and while SCUBA'ing... STINGRAYS!?!?!!?

Unbelieveable..... He will be missed!!!

It's so sad. :( He was a a true adventurer and animal advocate. He will be missed.

“We’re all very shocked. I don’t know what the zoo will do without him. He’s done so much for us, the environment and it’s a big loss,” said Paula Kelly, a local resident and volunteer at the zoo, after dropping off a wreath at the gate.

Stainton said Irwin’s American-born wife Terri, from Eugene, Ore., had been informed of his death, and had told their daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, who will turn 3 in December.

The couple met when she went on vacation in Australia in 1991 and visited Irwin’s Australia Zoo; they were married six months later. Sometimes referred to as the “Crocodile Huntress,” she costarred on her husband’s television show and in his 2002 movie.

Thanks for correcting me . I thought irwin last born was his daughter .

OK....glad shes knows.
That was as of 6:30 am.
The slime on the barb is what is toxic. Neuro toxin that causes extreme pain and in some cases, cardiac arrest. Just heard that the barb went into his heart.
Damn.

Just Sad. Really have to stress how much I feel for his family and friend. It is always hard losing someone. Even harder to lose someone with Steve's personality. VERY VERY SAD DAY!!:(

its very sad, and a bbit surreal. all the times people joke about him getting killed an when it finally happens, it seems fake, like he's just too good... he was too great of a guy...

As Warren Zevon said before he died "Enjoy every sandwich"

The family and I are watching one of his documentaries as I'm typing this...it was a sinking feeling for all of us when it came on tv as my daughter was channel surfing. My kids are feeling the sadness today. He'll be missed by many children as well. RIP Steve.......CRIKEY!

Does anyone watch Jeff Corwin? He's hilarious and fun to watch with the kids.

RIP 1962-2006

He lived his life by his rules. Sad that he died so young and leaving a family behind. He will be missed.
