I haven't been replacing my cr spotless resin. It doesn't last very long. The water here is pretty hard. I haven't done much research yet, I'm curious if anyone rents a small tank from culligan

That's a better idea IMO than a CR. The question is whether they will rent it to you for a reasonable fee. Likely they will charge you a monthly rental and then a regen fee every time you swap it.

I gave up on the whole DI thing and had my (inside) soft water run to my outside faucet. It's not as good as DI, but a lot better than hard and no extra work/expense to get it.

I used to have CR Spotless and switched to a Culligan DI tank. $15 month rental fee and $95 to have the tank swapped out when the resin is used up.

How often would you use it?

That's not bad--how often do you wind up having to swap it out? Where do you keep it? Do you move it in and out and hook it up every time?

It's personal use. I don't have a business. That expense is reasonable. I'm gonna call them to sed how much it is in this area. One of the questions is about the service. I've read some bad reviews but I think that was more about whole house systems. I don't see having much of an issue just for a small tank

I'm on my 2nd tank. First tank lasted 3 months and I don't just use it for the final rinse; I use it for the whole car wash experience. I wash my car every weekend and a few details thrown there. I leave it outside in my backyard all hooked up. They come to me to swap out the tank. FWIW, I have hard water in my area.

Wow, so over $500 a year. I'm pretty happy with my soft-water-to-outside-faucet solution, since I already had the water softener for the inside water.

Do you think that's alot? I'm thinking it's not bad. For the price of resin for the cr and the hassle of replacing it. I don't think I'm even getting 3 months with how bad my water is. I called them today. They said sales would call back. I don't even know if that service is offered here

I have a RO/DI system used for aquariums. The system cost about 200.00 and to do a full filter replacement it is about 80.00. I run it to a 65 gal tank with a shut off. I use it for the whole wash experience, diluting product, filling water cooler, and filling my wiper tank on both vehicles. It is a much cheaper route than all I have come across. The PPM off the treated water is about 0-4ppm and the water coming from the city is around 180-205ppm. If you need any advice feel to ask.

So they called back. It's 2 tanks that filters your own water to di . It's $27 a month $185 to swap tank. My water i think is around 250. Salesman said i should get about 3400 gallons before it'd need to be swapped. I'd think that would last quite awhile.

$.054 per gallon

If the 3,400 gallons last you a year; it ends up being $.14 per gallon, including the $27 a month charge.

What do they charge for the initial tank?

Including the cost of electricity and the water that is thrown out during the RO process...what do you estimate the cost per gallon to be for 3,400 gallons?

I am trying to compare it to Franks Culligan example.

Thanks

Never really figured it out. Mine is a 1:1 system (makes a gal wastes a gal). Lets see. I go thru about 5 tanks a month some times 6. So figure 60x5. 300 gal a month over 24 months. So 7200gal every 2 years. Used water 14400gal. So .01 per gallon plus county water charges. 1.34 per 1000 gal so .01375 per gallon. For 99.98% pure water. If I go on the 6 times for a month it would be even less per gallon. I could also probably go longer on my filters but once the TDS meter goes over 4ppm I change them out. Also there is no electricity used in the process. However the draw back is my system only produces about 60 gal per day. Which is more than I need. You would have more of an initial cost if you need to make more than 100 gal per day.

The 1st tank is $185. Same to swap it out.
