Custom labels for spray bottles

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the labels and how they're holding up. So far so good, but I don't use the bottles every day. One seemed to have gotten water in the label and the color on the label leaked a bit. I'll try to post a photo when I have a few minutes and can take a picture. I think they are holding up relatively well.

I do use the bottles every other week or so. I really wish I could wash my car every week, but it's not in the cards for me now.

Thanks, Huot25. I do agree with whitewater that wrapping some ear packing tape around the label/bottle is a good idea. I've done that before when I just printed simple labels and it does keep things dry.

Ok guys, so I received my labels and went to the avery.com/design area to make them there so the fitment would be exact. I'm not that skilled with computer design so I made a very simple color coded system. Let me know what you think and if you think I'm forgetting an essential product. QD = quick detailer, CP = cleans & protects.

Do you have a degreaser that you use? I see many options for APC, just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it. Nice job with the labels! Post some photos once you get everything labeled up.

I think I may take the advice both of you are giving and apply clear packing tape over the labels in the future. This is the one bottle that does get used quite often when I am working with water. As you can see water got to the label and the color is starting to run. This is the only bottle that has this problem so it could have been that the label was not sealed properly.

Sorry for the sideways photo, for some reason it is displaying correctly on my computer, but not when it is uploaded to the site. Interesting problem...

Yes, thanky you, my APC with no dilution is the degreaser, as well as the bug and tar remover. I def will! Maybe tomorrow, the rest of my bottles arrived today :D

Now we are talking about labels what bottles do you recommend!

Just sent a pm. You can't get them through autogeek. I wish they would start to carry them as I would get all my materials in one order.

Ok, I got them printed! Some advice: I was first using the "photo" setting on my printer, took long, and no difference in quality. Just stick to basic settings when printing these. The bottle has to be completely flat, if you place sticker on the curving area where it tapers towards the top it creates uneven coverage and wrinkles.

Afterwards I went to Publix and bought distilled water to make the dilutions, I'll show pics when they're filled up too. I ended up not using the ONRWW Lube label, turned it into TAR instead. I don't see a situation where I want to have a lube with wax in it.

Oh and those are the sprayers it came with, not the OpUs ones I'll be using.

I really need a table or desk in garage...

Some of them had product leak during filling and already caused the label to bleed and streak. You definitely have to be careful about putting them on completely flat. I'll need to do the clear tape trick also.

ONR lube is actually Nanoskin Glide that I still had leftover. I went ahead and used Opti-Bond at 1:1, I know that's only for a professional compressed sprayer but what the heck, let's see how it goes. Not sure what's up with APC 7:1, I think I didn't shake the bottle on that one before starting dilutions.

Looks great, Father87. Love the rainbow.

Those came out awesome! I really like the spray bottles and triggers. Well done!

I hear you with needing a table in the garage, I just need my own garage to get my stuff organized. I am hoping to apply black label paint coating this weekend. With any luck my wife will watch the kids Saturday.

 It's like one of those fragrance/soap shops! :xyxthumbs:

Man, funny you say that! I just came back home and walked into garage, IT SMELLS AMAZING!! ONRWW by far is the most delicious of them all though.

Using the design on the PDF files shared by @Huot25 (thanks a lot, by the way!), I drew some labels on Inkscape and basically enhanced the product name by adding logos.

Here's one of my (cheap-ish dollar store) bottles with its current label (if you can call it that) besides the printed sheet of labels:

I don't have a printer, so my idea to test these labels was to just print the sheet of labels on a regular letter-sized paper, not on some label-specific paper like Avery's or one of the alternatives. I went to Staples and had the sheet above printed -- got 3 copies, in case I messed up, so I could retry. Since it's not an adhesive label, I decided to simply use a wide (3in) clear tape to hold it in place.

Here is the first label done, although it didn't look very nice on top of the green stuff of the bottle:

And here's the final result:

I am guessing it won't hold up that well, since it was not an adhesive paper, but the experience was interesting anyway. Somehow I remembered myself as having better scissors cutting skills, but it was still a feasible task to tackle, and it sure does look a lot better than what I had before.

Once I upgrade my bottles I will redo the labels using proper adhesive paper and at that point I will also have a better idea on how well the clear tape works for me.

Either way, thanks everybody in this thread for the great ideas!
Sergio
