Customers Disgusting car. Should I?

Wow. Was that car being driven in that condition? Or has it been sitting?

If you're dealing with mold, I hope you're taking every Personal Protection precaution you can, and charging the customer accordingly...

Yeah maybe Lysol and air it out before you start

That is definatelly not enough!

When dealing with molds, respirator mask is the bare minimum and I would not do it without a suit either.

This is why I don't accept moldy cars jobs. I don't want to work in that kind of environment.

Dude, seriously... be careful. You at least have a mask on, right ?

Wore a mask, safety glasses and gloves.

This was one pass after putting all purpose cleaner, using a brush to agitate and then wiping.

Charged her $190. Took me about an hour and a half.

In addition to the respirator- I’m throwing away a pair of shorts and shirt. Numerous microfibers. which I added into the price. This lady basically wanted it vacuumed and wiped down. Didn’t want the seats or floors shampooed. Also need to get a new filter for the vacuum too. From the time I got there, unloaded, started and packed up and was gone was an hour and a half. Spent a little over an hour inside cleaning.

90 mins? It takes me 5 hours to do a complete interior detail on a car that has no mold in it... how do you do that in 90 minutes?

90 minutes? There's absolutely no way you could do a good job in 90 minutes. I guess you said you didn't really "clean" it. Frankly, if I wasn't allowed to do that job properly, I would have walked away. No way I'm putting my name on that unless it's done right.

She wanted it tidied up for her son to drive. Not that I couldn’t do it “properly” , but she gave me how much she wanted to spend. I worked on the plastics where the mold was and cleaned up the seats a little. There were a lot of cigarette burns. As much as I wanted to turn it down, I needed to make money since I have three birthday parties coming up in the next month for my kids... so presents, stuff for the party adds up so i needed to make money. She was very pleased with it so if she’s pleased I’m happy.

There were a bunch of cigarette burn holes in the seats. White bleach stains from Idn what. She wasn’t too concerned with having the floors shampooed or having me spend time on every little piece of debris stuck in the fabric. She wanted a very basic detail. Gave her a very basic detail per her request. The goal was to remove the mold, clean up a majority of floor and such.

"Should I?" - apparently you already made that decision as you took pics and let the forum know of your intentions. LAME!

I disagree. Any member's honest post or contribution should never be ridiculed or called "LAME".

That's not how we do it around here.

Should have taken a fresh can of Lysol, stuck it with a ice pick and tossed it in the car til can was empty, then let it sit for a while before you touched it. Lysol grenade does wonders.
