Cutting compounds

I see you recommended a foam cutting pad. Is there an advantage in going with a wool cutting pad or vice versa?

Pinnacle Advanced Compound with LC CCS Orange or Yellow.

For heavy work I reach for my bottle of M101 and LC blue Cyan pad. I've had great luck with Meg's Ultimate Compound as well as the new Griot's Garage Complete Compound with my LC Tangerine pad or one of my GG orange pad. I haven't really had to reach for one of my flat mf pads except when using my GG3" machine.

If ur looking for a strong cut 3m ultra cut on a wool compounding pad is definitely the roughest but something u can work with and control would be 3m perfect-it iii ex compound on a 3m double sided foam cutting pad. Really easy 2 work and can cut up 2 1200 grit scratches. If u know how 2 work a rotary buffer like a dewalt u can get 1000 grit scratches out no problem. Hands down the best cutting compound and pad, worth every penny

I know fg400 is a said "compound " but it finishes lsp ready most of the time imo

I've narrowed down my compounds to just 3 right now, M101, M100 & D300 usually cut with Meg's MF. I've used FG400 & Rupes Blue. I think I may try surburf or purple wool. Sometimes I get hammered cars that just need more. Interested to hear what more of the professionals use. If it was my personal car I could get away with something light but customers cars just come in a wreck

If your looking for a hey cutting compound Menzerna SHC 300. It's not going to finish like 400, but has more cut.

For some of you FG400 fans try Meguiar's M67 as a comparison sometime on a test panel...a test panel because it's intended for Marine use.

I haven't used FG400, but I did try Meg's M67 on a whim and as a last resort on a black hood and got quite the surprise.

I see both of the above as being comparable to yet another product that I've seen many paint shops use and it too is now considered a marine product and this; 3M Marine Compound and Finishing Material. The "Marine" part of the name was only recently added in the last year or two.

I tend to think these two marine product would definitely cut harder, but I know at least one of them finishes decent.
