D-Day images - then and now

Cool! I've often wondered whom had the shock on D-day? The Germans in their bunkers looking out at the massive armada or the Allies when the bow opened as they faced the well placed defensives?

Incredible images. Thank you for sharing. :props:

Aaryn NZ.

Great photos! My grandfather was in the Rangers during WWII. They are the greatest generation.

Those guys were without a doubt the greatest generation. There will never be another like them. Some of those pictures (the beaches) are haunting. So many lives lost on what is now such a peaceful landscape.

No need to thank me, I'm happy to have the chance to share

Thanks DOCPEANUT for the pics. My grandfather was a tailgunner in a B-17 and would tell me stories about overseas.

We need a repeat of that generation that's not all "ME, ME, ME" and all worried about being politically correct or hurting someone's feelings. I'm sure that more than a few of those men are spinning in their graves at the way society has developed.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing! :dblthumb2:

I couldn't agree more, however, that generation was one of a kind and the world will never see another. In a way I'm happy because those men deserve to be held high on their own

That's awesome, my grandfather was in the Tank Destroyers Division, I still have his service coat and hat.

Very Cool images.......a lot of strong willed men and women, truly hero's to endure what they went through.

I still have my grandfather's wings, in the center of the wings is a bullet, symbolizing a gunner.
