D114 first impressions

D114 is nowhere near that susdsy when I use it at 1 oz to 2 gallons. Are you sure there isn't residual shampoo in the BRS?

The BRS has never seen shampoo as I dont use it lol!

Do you squeeze or massage the sponge under the solution a lot?

Do you use softened water?

Are you using both D114 and ONR with the Big Red Sponge?

Have you used the BSR with traditional car wash soap?

If so, do you use anything to clean the sponge out when switching between the two products?

ONR is said to be a water softener, but I do not know if it has the same affect as other forms of softened water. My relatives had softened water and just a touch of soap would create much more suds, would feel slippery longer, and seemed harder to rinse from my hands.

Maybe the ONR is staying in the sponge and causing a softening affect or your water is softened, or soft.

I just get a little bit of suds with it like Brutal below.

Our town water is almost Dasani , its perfect.

I dont mix ONR and 114

Ive never used a reg. soap with the sponge

I do rub the sponge on the grit guard in the bucket.

Its been 3 washes now without using ONR, I feel confident there is no ONR left in the sponge.

I will mix up a solution and wash my truck with the boars hair brush this weekend, we will see what happens.

Maybe meguiars really mislabeled the bottle and it's hyper wash?? Just a thought it happens.

On another forum I saw a picture of optimum power clean with a optimum car soap label on it.

That much suds Is definitely not normal.

111 and 114 are the same color, maybe.

Does 114 suds up if you spray the bucket with the hose?

I'm not sure actually...it may. I've never sprayed the bucket with a hose.

That may be your problem. Fill the bucket with your water then add D114 and give it a little swish with the grit guard. That should be all you need.

I dont spray the bucket with the hose, I was just wondering to see If I can make it suds without the red sponge.

Oh ok sorry I misunderstood

It probably will suds but not like a car soap.

If you listen to the Optimum Synergy Podcast, the Optimum guys state that ONR will get slimy when it comes in contact with with soap residue.

You are either seeing contamination from the sponge or the dilution ratio of D114 is not correct that you are using.

I would agree that would be a good argument Guz but I washed my 3500 today with a boars hair brush and observe how it looked....

This is the first swipe the brush made

The suds were as bad as with the sponge to be honest

This was after I dried, optimum spray waxed and hydro-ed the wheels, hydro-ed the dump body, and put some goobly goop on my black trim im testing, so about 45 minutes later, driving down the road. By the time I got home there was water streaks in quite a few spots, just like on my Jeep that ill have to touch up with some spray ONR.

My only conclusion is that 114 should be used with MF's, OR I dont have 114 at all.

Car soap is usually much thicker than the 114 I have, and according to MOL, 114 is like water, which mine is.

Weird huh?

I may mix up a solution tomorrow at 1/2 oz per gallon and put some ONR in it to see if it increases the foam or decreases it.

The good news is I havnt notice a single swirl while using only the boars hair brush on this truck, its 100% flawless still.

Yeah, that is odd. I do GD method @ 1:128 and it's nothing that heavy. Did you try posting at Meg's forum?

Marc (Real Riders) is a fan of BRS & D114. I don't remember him complaining of difficulties or odd behaviors from the combination of both products. Maybe he'll chime in.

I have a brand new never been used grout sponge ill wash part of my plow truck with tomorrow and I guess it will be a perfectly neutral wash media.

The BHB has used ONR a half dozen times or so.

It's really wierd Jeff. I guess we can rule out hyper wash. It definitely looks like D114 in your pic. I also use it at 128:1 or an ounce per gallon. It's never that foamy. I always used GD method but I have used a MM Incredi mitt and never had that problem. I actually used a rinse bucket at 128:1 also so I didn't dilute my wash bucket any further.

UPDATE:

I put together a 1:256 solution and broke out a brand new grout sponge but I was on a time constraint of sorts so I washed my toolboxes.

Here I pushed down on the sponge to see the suds, and they were very little.

20160411_153815_zpskbtfu7vn.jpg

At one point I increased the solution by adding another 1/2 ounce and the suds werent terrible either.

So I added a 1/2 oz. of ONR,

Take a look what happened

20160411_154047_zpswwa4u0iq.jpg

My only conclusion is that ONR is stuck in my big red sponge and even stuck on the boars hair brush, and is causing the bubbles.

With this discovery I am looking forward to using 114 again :)

Wow crazy!! So basically ONR+D114 makes a sudsy mess.

Glad you got it figured out jeff!

It appears to be so. Also in the picture where I am about to pour the ONR into the bucket it looks like the top has some foam in it, which it does, but when wiping with the sponge the suds werent an issue.

Yeah, that sounds like normal D114 behavior. Optimum has a podcast now and in #2 I believe they were talking about D114, soap, ONR, and slime, but I can't remember exactly what was said, but it may shed some light (or more confusion) on this.

I guess it's no surprise you still have ONR residue in your sponge, we all know how hard it is to rinse out sponges.
