I believe I read that D114 @ 1:256 works well for clay lube, however, I have several spray bottles @ 1:128. wouldn't that work as well? Maybe even better since it has more concentrated D114 in it, therefore more lubricity?

D114 is VERY slippery. What I've noticed with using it as a clay lube is in higher concentrations (128:1) it causes the clay bar to slide too easily and not pick as much stuff up.

This would be good for something like nanoskin pads though where extra lubricity is a must.

It's not hard to make another spray bottle at the 1:256 dilution.

More lubricity isn't better for clay.... The whole purpose of clay is to allow the abrasives to shear off above surface contaminants and lodge then into the clay bar. More lubricity will likely lead less decontamination.

If you're going to use it as a waterless wash you should at least double that ratio (1 ounce per gallon).

As a clay lube, the standard dilution ratio works quite well."

I interpret the word "standard" in Mr. Stoop's
statement that:

"As a clay lube, the standard dilution ratio
works quite well"
...

as being Meguiar's "recommended" dilution ratio for D114, when being used as a Rinse-less Wash (RW).
{i.e.: 1:256}

As such:
I use D114...@ the 1:256 ratio...for clay lube.

I've always used D114 @1:128 for clay lube and had great results. Then I bought my 1st Speedy Prep Towel [med. grade] and while it seemed work great as lube for the towel, I only got about 6 uses out of it before it became ineffective. It simply wouldn't pick up/remove contaminants after that.. The 6 vehicles I used it on were pretty contaminated so I'm not sure if it was due to it having done all it could do, or if maybe it was my fault for having used D114 at too high a concentration for the towel. All I know is I was expecting to get a whole lot more than 6 uses out of it.

Now I have a new clay towel. Nano Skin 7x7 Handy Towel which says it's fine/med. grade. I've used it once w/D114 @1:128 and it worked fine. I just hope my dilution isn't too strong for it because these towels aren't exactly cheap..
