I plan on applying Wolfgang 3.0 (by hand) this weekend for the first time. I would like to use a "quick topper" every weekend when I wash the car to maintain (hopefully) the gloss and protection of the 3.0 sealant. Are D156 and 845 basically the same thing? I'll be applying/removing the D156 or 845 by hand since I don't have a machine or pads yet. Thanks!
 
845 and D156 are nothing alike.

845 is a traditional-ish wax that is applied like any other liquid sealant or wax. I've been able to get 6 months of durability for a single coat. You can think of 845 as a last step protecant similar to the Wolfgang you are already using. It might actually be more durable. You apply 845 by hand or with a DA.

D156 is a spray wax. It's also sold in stores under the name Ultimate Quik Wax. The purpose of this product is a short term quick boost to the existing product on the car or very short term protection. I use Quik Wax as a post wash shine booster or a drying aid. I estimate it lasts about two weeks under ideal conditions. D156/UQW is typically sprayed on the surface and wiped/buffed off.

Off topic from the original thread, but is D156 the exact same as UQW? I only ask because I looked into it before and found that the pH based on the MSDS are different. For instance, DG AW951/952 (small size/gallon size) use the same MSDS.
 
Yes they are the same. The only difference is the scent.
 
Actually no, they are not the same. UQW is a lot thicker than D156. D156 has a density similar to water where UQW is more like a cream. I terms of durability and look they might be similar, I don't know I never tried to do a direct comparisson.

Collinite 845 needs to be heated up in hot water to apply, so it's different than a traditionnal wax in that regard. It is one of the most durable wax you can use and once heated up it is very easy to apply.

Both great products but as a weekly topper D156 is the better option. You can use it on everything: Paint, plastic, rubber, glass. It's also a good drying aid, one of the best car care product on the market.

Like a cream? The bottles of UQW I've used have never been that thick. For me, it's sprayed out in a nice fine mist and wipes away very easily. It's nearly the same consistency as the Meg's QD spray. Not *quite* as thin, but no where near a cream either.

FWIW, None of my bottles of UQW are like a cream, nor are they any thicker than my jug of D156. Sounds like you may be comparing ULW rather than UQW.

Maybe my bottle has turned bad. Strange indeed.
 
UQW has a more fruit candy type scent. D156 is not as strong in the scent. Almost like a cleaner scent. Hard to really describe it.
