DA polisher on interior carpets?

Keep in mind a few steps to help effectively remove dirt from carpet:

1] to vacuum then loose debris off first
2] vigorously dry brush the carpet in a cos hatching fashion -- east to west then north to south. Then re-vacuum.

Exactly.

The reason why you vacuum first is because if you don't the water can dissolve any dirt or other substances in the carpet and/or upholstery and via GRAVITY cause it to seep further into the carpet or upholstery.

So vacuum/brush/vacuum first.

Same for cloth tops, you vacuum before introducing any type of liquid.

If you have an air compressor, you can REALLY get the dry dirt out using one of these handy dandy little tools.....

Tornador Blastor Vacuum Attachment - A Favorite Cool Tool

When I work on my own cars there's always a couple of cool tools I like to use and this is one of them, the Tornador Blastor Vacuum Attachment. The way this works is you attach the the air line to the compressed air line from your air compressor. You need a powerful air compressor with a minimum of 60 to 90 PSI to feed the tool. You attach the vacuum attachment to the hose of your shop-vac.

Compressed air forces the oscillating tip to oscillate while at same time it's blasting air out of the tip to create the tornado effect.

Now you have the Tornador Blastor Vacuum Attachment blasting air at the surface in a violent tornado action while your vacuum extracts everything. It can be a little hard to wrap your mind around in that how can you effectively vacuum while at the same time you're blowing air away from the opening of the vacuum attachment but it works and it works great!

Let me put it this way... if I"m going to do any vacuuming, I will attach the Tornador Blastor Vacuum Attachment first and then vacuum away.

I love using the DA and the 3 inch carpet brushes.

Without Shampoo: Blow and Vacuum to get the loose and large dirt out. Then hit the mats and carpets with the DA brush and vacuum a final time.

With Shampoo: Blow and Vacuum to get the loose and large dirt out. Spray with shampoo/APC and let it dwell. Hit the carpets and mats with the DA brush. (Optional: Steam and/or extract). Then take a terry cloth towel and dry the carpets by hand, while pulling up and out the deeper dirt and stains. Vacuum a final time.

Thanks everyone this is really helpful stuff!

Someone on the first page recommended - Lake Country 4 Inch Yellow Carpet Scrubbing Pad with the DA for carpets etc. How does this compare with the Cyclo pads people have been talking about?

I also came across - Chemical Guys ACC_201_BRUSH_C - Carpet Brush with Hook & Loop Attachment. Is this any good? Its pretty expenisve, about $30 for a brush.

Trying to find the most cost effective solution for now!

You will want white or blue brushes for scrubbing.

Can I use these brushes on seat fabric (as well as the floor carpet) or would they be too rough for the seats? Would perhaps the white brush be more suitable?

I believe "aqua" to be the all around brush of choice. You get two, use one on interior and one on tires! There is a softer choice, grey, but I believe most use "aqua" and the white sure is stiff.

Hi guys. I have a interior detailing job possibly coming up for a friend. All my detailing experience is exterior with a DA etc. So I am wondering how would be best to clean carpets and seats. In particular can I use my DA on the fabric and carpets with the appropriate brushes/pads? I do not own a steamer but wondered if the DA would be quicker and more effective than scrubbing by hand??

Also what carpet/fabric cleaner detergent would you advise? And if there are suitable pads/brushes for a DA to be used on the interior what would you recommend?

Thanks!!
Mark

I use the velcro backed carpet/upholtery brush from Chemical Guys on the carpets. It works great, but sometimes if you hit the center bump it will come off, woes of velcro I guess. I used to use one that I screwed on, but I don't like changing backing plates all the time on the PC 7424.

Thanks everyone! Last question - what carpet/upholstery cleaner would you use? I have been thinking of the Meguires d101 all rounder. Is that good? Do I just mix it with water and then spray it on the carpet and begin the process?
