Daily Driver - Saturn Aura

Nice choice on a GM!

And now that the Saturn looks like THAT!, do you really wanna leave it outside 24/7? haha, I know I wouldn't.

appreciate all the well wishes ... it is what it is. I needed a daily driver as wife needs truck for boys and just not willing to part with Vette. I was not happy it was black, but at the price they accepted I likely could sell it now and make a quick profit.

Killr, great job on the detail. I thought you moderators just work on replying to threads and not on cars! hehe kidding.

I saw that you use 4 Star products for protection. I've personally not heard much about them... do you really like it? Compared to WG or Souveran stuff, does it stack up? If so, I might have to try it... it's a lot cheaper!

I love Four Star UPP and Four Star Spray Wax. It is truly a Zaino clone without the need for mixing or levels of this on that. To me its a little more reflective that Wolfgang on blacks, but both are great choices IMO.

Killr... I just read the descriptions of 4 Star on autogeek... This might be something I have to try. I love trying new combinations of sealant/nuba. I love Souveran as the final "topper', but for the base sealant coat, I fluctuate between Wolfgang, Klaase, Menzerna FMJ, and DP surface shield.

Both my cars are black, so in your opinion it looks better than Wolfgang on black? wow... that's a major distinction. Does it come close to Souveran in terms of the look of "wetness"? How about compared to Klaase and other sealants?

And lastly, the spray wax... so it's not just a spray version of the UPP, but it's actually a blend of UPP sealant with Nuba?

Klasse twins are a bit sterile on blacks IMO ... I like the reflective and glossy nature of UPP. It is also quite slick initially. It is no Souveran in looks but can be topped rather easily.

The spray version, from what I am told, is indeed less of a spray sealant or true booster and more of a spray wax. Its quite glossy and easy to use with no streaking.

Last questions killr... before I pull the trigger on buying a bottle:

1) ease of application and removal? very easy? no dust? after application, can it be removed right away or have to wait till haze?

2) Durability? I read a lot about this... I saw there were issues prior to 4Star permanently adding polycharger. How long does it last BEFORE poly? and now with the new formular, how long do you get out of it?

It is one of the easiest to apply and remove and quite forgiving if over applied too. Some light dust on buffing but nothing harsh and I find two-three towels per removal are best option.

It is certainly not the most durable product but clearly mid-stream. Because it needs no mixing and applied and removed so easily it is easy to apply another coat. I do believe some challenged its durability since the slickness falls off but still beads and looks good for some time. Polycharger seemed to add some gloss and enhanced the durability a bit ... and the new spray wax both acts as a booster and also looks delicious with no streaking on black.

Hey Scott, how did you apply the four star. By hand or machine.
Just wondering.

Thanks for the help Killr... I will purchase some tonight so it gets here by end of the week! So durability is "mid stream"? How long is that compared to say... Wolfgang sealant? I find that WG for me lasts maybe 2-3 washes before losing its slickness. I mean, it still beads, but the slickness is almost gone. Same case with UPP?

Car looks great, not that I was surprised :D. My next order will definitely have 4 Star UPP and SW in it, and some of my Klasse SG is going in a travel size spray bottle. I always look forward to reading your opinions and advice.

...and found side by side all three of us prefer the look of Menzerna Polish to Megs 105 final gloss wise. While 105 certainly had more bite and helped with marring, it was the not finish down quality.

Megs 105 vs. which Menz? 106FA? Isn't there quite a gap in cut/gloss between the two? Never used either myself, been liking my Menz Power Gloss though.

quite similar. I find the Zaino Z8 is also a great booster for UPP and brings back some slickness. So does Optimum Quick Detailer and Gloss Booster.

Yes there was quite a gap in the polishes, but more meant as a personal observation as some have suggested that 105 "could" or "almost" finishes down perfectly. I didnt, and all of us (myself, wife, friend) all saw quite a noticable difference side by side with gloss, reflection, and crispness in the details. Car really needed one more polishing level with 085rd and grey pad to jewel it properly but we started seeing rain showers and car was longer than 10x10 tent and kept getting wet. Besides its outside 24/7 and literally rained every day since.
