Just got a pristine '96 Silverado. What do I do on a daily basis to dust and maintain it?

I understand the 'California Dusters' can scratch but I want to keep it looking like I got it. ( the previous owner apparently never washed it or drove it in the rain, but he passed away so I can't get his methods for cleaning).

Do I use a spray detailer everyday or just a microfiber cloth??

Welcome, I use a CD on my Colorado and wash every week, wax once a month (NXT). Good luck with your truck.

I bought a duster but I just don't like the idea and only used it once.
I also don't qd my entire car every day.
I'm sure people will educate us both but in my opinion it doesn't do anything to protect your car and only introduces unnecesary possibilities of scratching the clear coat. Of course I would love to do it for the looks but for care I think it does more damage then good.
I do however immediately (after every drive) qd and wipe with an mf any place where a bug, bird poo or other harmfull entity has made cozy with my Skybaby.
1.-Certainly use a spray with the microfiber.
2.-Wash weekly if you drive it that week.
3.-My plan/schedule requires every 6 months I clay, polish, seal. (sealant being UPGP)
This is with the car being garage kept. I am rather new myself and may find that I need to seal more often but so far (3 months) she still beads and shines nicely! Supposed to last 6 months+ if I recall correctly

I have tried the QD with MF after my truck has sit in the garage and gotten dusty; and I have tried the CCD.
I can only honestly say, much to the rebuke of most on this forum, the car duster is less invasive than the QD and wipe down method.

If you just lightly drag the thing across the surface, it grabs the dirt, and at best, you are dragging it back across the surface so light (no pressure) that it is not much different than the dust landing on the vehicle in the first place.

When you QD and wipe with MicroFiber, and wonderful as MF is, you are still applying pressure as you wipe across the finish increasing the risk for scratching.

My personal opinion. <Flame suit on>.

Edit: For those of you so quick to bash the duster, read AG's page on it:
The Original California Duster a gentle and effective cleaning tool for paint surfaces, this legend in car detailing has history behind it.
And if you haven't actually tried it, you can't bash it. It works amazingly well at dust removal.

I would stay start off by removing all swirls and scratches.
Seal the car ever 6 months
Wax the car every month
Then Wash the car weekly

Get some rinseless wash products to wash your car as it sounds like it won't ever be very dirty.

If you use a CCD, do it in the shade on a cool surface. For some reason using a CCD in the sun and hot surface causes more maring .
